with the blessings of my head teacher of my fourth grade class, im beginning a sort of bible study. each week one of the students will take home a copy of a children’s bible and read an assigned portion with their family, and present it to the class the following week, with special emphasis on how this passage relates to our faith. the only problem is, as im sitting here, trying to divide up the passages, im having a little bit of trouble myself. i know the significance of the gensis story (and the idea of mary being like the new eve) and think i can guide them into a discussion on this, and about the passover, discussing the Jewish holiday and Jesus being the perfect lamb, the perfect sacrifice, and the importance of covering the prophacies, but i was hoping you guys had some other ideas for other key parts of the old testament that connect to our faith. i really need about 20 and am coming up short (we will be doing new testamant later). any ideas, suggestions about passages would be greatly appreciated 👍 thanks so much!

you might check out resources your DRE has on the Jesse Tree, because it will give you the key OT stories that figure in the outline of Salvation History you are trying to present.

I was a fourth grade PSR teacher for ten years. The story of Issac, David and Goliath, Cain and Abel, are all favorites with this age group.

Your DRE may have a Children’s Liturgy book. We have several different publishers and they even have the lesson plan in them. Don’t reinvent the wheel if you don’t have to! 👍
