With how difficult it is to find holsome and quality things today. Now for my love of cars, motorcycles, and sports I’m sure I’m OK. My problem comes with my other hobbies of video games, comics, anime and manga, movies, TV, and music.

Now on video games I’ve been leaning back to racing and sports games because they are “safe” while I’m in the early stages of returning to living life the right way. Now I’m pretty sure the comics and Manga unless outwardly hostile towards teachings are OK. Are things like Constantine OK? A series where he’s a magic user but is because he’s bared from heaven and hell, thus fights demons.

Movies I’ve been moving back towards cleaner things, but some of my favorites aren’t holsome I’d say such as the godfather, good fellas, James Bond, etc. Same for TV, I love true crime stories and things of that nature.

Music is another thing I’m not sure about. Now I love lots of music, but a lot of it isn’t pure for want of a better word. I love punk, metal, classic rock and oldies like Sinatra. Now it’s the first two I have my worries about. Punk is normally more at odds where I find most metal I like just plays with the stories of evil in the Bible and such. Most of the people I tend to like are some form of Christian. I know so much of love songs aren’t about married people is that a problem?

A lot of video games rely on violence, sexuality and occultism to entertain. So they can be an occasion of sin. You would have to decide on a case by case basis though.

movies that entertain murder nudity occultism is not good to watch. same with everything else like music games tv and other stuff.

See but here is the question if it’s a based in fact thing is it Wrong to watch? Such as again true crime stories.

We are to avoid near occasions of sin. Some people can watch Game of Thrones with no problem. Others are scandalized (in the theological sense) by Harry Potter. Use good judgment and consult your priest when in doubt.

Ok I see that it’s not the meterial but how we are affected by it?

That’s going to be different for each person. What may negatively Influence a child might be fine for an adult. There’s no one-size-fits-all answer.

I like to play Nintendo games like Mario since all those problems don’t exist there.

That makes sense, I was looking to see if there was an outright issue or proclamation about such things.

Not that I know of. I mean, some things, like porn, are flat no’s. For other things, the answer is “use your best judgment.”

I personally think shows involving the occult or violence or whatever are fine provided you’re a mature adult who is able to remember that it’s not to be taken too seriously.

Right like I was wondering while listening to a lot of Beatles stuff lately about how it fits in and when I saw Casino on today. Like are these things OK to enjoy.

I personally think you’re fine, yeah…just like with a movie like Casino, just bear in mind it’s entertainment, not a model for behavior.

It depends. Media is largely seen as neutral. Some things are not for others.
And then just because some things in entertainment are bad or sinful doesn’t mean that you are not allowed to view it.

Think about it, if you had the mind of Jesus you could see any and all TV shows without sin. But Jesus is perfect. We are not. It would be an occasion of sin to view certain things.

Do you think you can do magic because of these shows about magic? Do you think paganism is cool because of the magic? Is it tempting you to other things? If not, then it’s probably fine.

Right for me it is I find the mind set behind that kind of lifestyle so interesting because I could never do it. Also how most of them still have some form of faith that is fascinating to me.

The only two things with magic. 1. I like are Harry Potter and as some far more knowledge say that its message that love is important and life saving is good.
2. Constantine but mainly because I like seeing evil get a good butt whipping.
Or do you count Star Wars as magic too? Me I see the force as an allegory for the Holy Spirit

Clearly you haven’t seen the horrorific violence in Mario Party games 😜

I don’t have enough friends to play Mario Party.
(insert sad face here)

Star Wars is based directly off of a pagan/pantheist idea of an indifferent “force”, which is why there is a good and dark side of the force, yadda yadda.

Now, does that mean you can’t watch it? I would not say that, so long as you realize what is fiction. For instance, several early Christians certainly liked ie stories with pagan Greek elements in it like the Illiad (Illyad?).
