I think my enquiry would go here. I have organised to be part of a prayer meeting online. At the moment it is just myself and one other person, we will build it later as we become more familiar with the flow of this prayer meeting.
She set it out beautifully and she seems to have done this before, but I want to help organise and not leave it to her alone.

Can anyone lead me to some example of how I should open the prayer with heartfelt prayer asking God to hear and be present with us.

I have never been eloquent or overly holy with my prayer style words, but I would like some examples that are special and heartfelt.

Thankyou

Dear God, thank you for this chance to be together in Your Name, for it is said “Where two or three are gathered in My Name, I am also there”. Bless our meeting that it may be fruitful, and may we be able to apply the insights we get to our daily lives. All these we ask in Jesus’ name and through the intercession the Mary and [insert saint/s name(s) here]. Amen.

I’m not sure if this is good enough (this is generally how I do opening prayers) but I’m much more liturgical/theological/philosophical than that. I just pray as the Spirit moves 🙂

I find this one to be good for what you want:

Come Holy Spirit

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth.

O, God, who by the light of the Holy Spirit, did instruct the hearts of the faithful, grant that by the same Holy Spirit we may be truly wise and ever rejoice in His consolations, Through Christ Our Lord, Amen.

Holy Spirit You are welcome here. Come and fill this time and space with Your Presence and pour out Your Spirit in the hearts and minds of all of us gathered here today in Your Precious Name Jesus. Father God, we glorify and praise You together with all of creation for the gift of Your Son Jesus and we thank you Brother Jesus for always listening to all our prayers and for praying on our behalf before the throne of our Loving and Faithful Heavenly Father. We offer up ourselves and our prayers today for the salvation of lost souls. May Your Holy Spirit lead them to repentance and conversion. Please give us all a safe journey home today. In Your Precious Beautiful Name Jesus we pray. Amen.

I usually do short ad-libs, such as “Holy Spirit fire, us up for Jesus and his Church as you first fired-up the apostles on Pentecost.”

I googled prayers before meetings and found this website. You many want to give it a try.

I found one to open our Pastoral Council meeting this Sunday. Thanks for the inspiration:)

St. Augustine’s Prayer to the Holy Spirit.
Breathe in us, O Holy Spirit, that our thoughts may all be holy.
Act in us, O Holy Spirit, that our work, too may be holy.
Draw our hearts, O Holy Spirit, that we may love but what is holy.
Strengthen us, O Holy Spirit, to defend all that is holy.
Guard us, then O Holy Spirit, that we always may be holy. Amen.

God Bless you.
