The simple answer, the text is speaking of Jesus as a man and as such he is distinct from the Father. Since, we christians believe that Jesus is fully God and fully Man this is not a problem for us. However, moving onto verse 8

Revelation 1:8 (New International Version)
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”

Who is coming at the second coming? Jesus

Now using their same type of logic, ask them to open their Kingdom Interlinear to II Thess 2:2, They translate “day of Jehovah”, point out the greek word kurious for jehovah there, go to verse 1, “Lord Jesus Christ”, ask, “don’t you mean Jehovah Jesus Christ”? It is Kurious too.

2 Thessalonians 2

1Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers, 2not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by some prophecy, report or letter supposed to have come from us, saying that the day of the Lord has already come.

On Rev 1:8, expect them to go to Isiah 9:6 to say that Jesus is only “mighty god”, but in Isaiah 10:21 “mighty God” is also used for God, thus Isaiah does not use “almighty”, but uses “mighty” instead.

Isaiah 10:21
A remnant will return, a remnant of Jacob will return to the Mighty God.
