I’m probably being lazy but does someone have the reference in the CCC of what we as Catholics believe for salvation and works? I’ve found the reference to salvation by grace but am having trouble finding faith and works in the same reference. Thanks for any help!

Salvation is by grace. Faith and works are what justify and sanctify us

How about trying references to justification and/or sanctification?

Try HERE beginning at 2019. If that is not what you are asking for, down at the bottom of the page where it says “Enter Search String” type in Faith, or Works, or whatever you want - it will bring up all references to that word in the Catechism.

Hope this helps

John

Thanks for the link.

The page that contains 2019 is beautiful.

I guess that to answer my question it comes down to these few items in the CCC. If anyone else finds a better answer please let me know. Thank you.

2019 Justification includes the remission of sins, sanctification, and the renewal of the inner man.

**2005 **Since it belongs to the supernatural order, grace escapes our experience and cannot be known except by faith. We cannot therefore rely on our feelings or our works to conclude that we are justified and saved. However, according to the Lord’s words “Thus you will know them by their fruits”- reflection on God’s blessings in our life and in the lives of the saints offers us a guarantee that grace is at work in us and spurs us on to an ever greater faith and an attitude of trustful poverty.

**682 **When he comes at the end of time to judge the living and the dead, the glorious Christ will reveal the secret disposition of hearts and will render to each man according to his works, and according to his acceptance or refusal of grace.

Might I also suggest the paragraphs relating to faith:

1814 Faith is the theological virtue by which we believe in God and believe all that he has said and revealed to us, and that Holy Church proposes for our belief, because he is truth itself. By faith "man freely commits his entire self to God."78 For this reason the believer seeks to know and do God’s will. “The righteous shall live by faith.” Living faith "work through charity."79

1815 The gift of faith remains in one who has not sinned against it.80 But “faith apart from works is dead”:81 when it is deprived of hope and love, faith does not fully unite the believer to Christ and does not make him a living member of his Body.

1816 The disciple of Christ must not only keep the faith and live on it, but also profess it, confidently bear witness to it, and spread it: "All however must be prepared to confess Christ before men and to follow him along the way of the Cross, amidst the persecutions which the Church never lacks."82 Service of and witness to the faith are necessary for salvation: "So every one who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven; but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven."83

That’s what I was looking for 👍 Thank-You!
