Help! Writing a book

Ok, I’m a writer. I got this idea a while ago, and I’m a bit uneasy on the subject. The main character is a young man, who falls in love with his guardian angel and marries her eventually. He sees her and she talks to him and the like… I asked a few people if there was anything wrong with that, like would the church hate the book?, but all of them said to go ahead and write it. I’m still uneasy… I know how to change the plot if this isn’t the ‘good’ version, but I like this one over the other.

It’s fiction, so it’s just a story or a tale. But it’s been bugging me. :o
 
This story has already been written and made into a movie. It starred Nicholas Cage and was called City of Angels.

Never seen the movie, or book… and I added my own twists to that, the plots much bigger then just that. That’s the one part that’s needed for the prolouge.
 
Well Biblically there were angels in the bible, Was it Lot, who came to visit? People who were lustful of the angels and struck down because Angels are all above human desires or sex. The only reason people marry is for procreation. So it seems you have a plot hole.
 
You could just write a different version.
Of course, your *real * guardian angel is probably having fits of laughter over the impossibility of it all. But hey, it’s just a story!
 
It does seem a bit odd as Guardian Angels are angelic beings and not human beings. If you are uneasy about the subject matter, instead of asking friends or family, why not go before the Blessed Sacrament and ask Jesus Himself? I’m sure He’ll give you a good answer to your question and relieve your anxiety.

Yeah, mostly likely most of the Angel’s are laughing. :rotfl: It is a bit of a dumb idea, but I like the rest of my plot. I just didn’t want to be offensive, with the Da Vinci’s code as it is. Then again, that was seen as being facts and mine’s just a story. Thanks you guys! 😃

I don’t want to just poke holes in your story or anything (my gf’s a writer and she hates it when I do that) but, just 2 questions:

1.) Can anyone else see the guardian angel? If not, how do they marry?
2.) If everyone can see the angel, how do they know she’s really an angel?

Ok, I’ll check those movies out, may help.

The realm I’m writing it in is ‘real’ but with being called ‘Netherangels’. The humans are fearful of them, they believe that they are angels of God, who turned away from Him, and somehow missed Hell and came to earth. They’re a bit like elves (LOTR elves of course), but with wings (Dove or raven).

Dom, the main character at the moment, has an affection for the angels, and his own Guardian angel, unlike every other human. Only he can see her, but after something happens, she ‘Falls’ and becomes human herself. They he marries her, and everyone can see her, so on so forth. (Happily ever after…) That’s the basic jift of it.

Anyways, I said that I’d look into the movies. I’m still thinking up the plot, but only the main character can see his guardian angel in the beginning. After a few things, she becomes visable to everyone.

I like, in your phantom post, where you said that it was more of a fantasy world and the existence of a different type of angel, where it’s obvious that it’s fictional, or at least not purporting to be exactly like our world. If that’s the case then, regarding your original question, I don’t think depicting the story that way would be a problem at all.

But, yes, the words isn’t our own. There’s a little bit of religion, but nothing specific is mentioned. As I said, I’m still thinking up most of it. I just know the beginning for now.
 
I think it sounds like a really good idea. Keep us updated as you come up with more of it. 👍
