i will return to check and see if anybody here can help. . .

You’re free to post your question on this forum; or…I believe there’s also a way you can e-mail somebody privately. Through the forums though, you may receive a clearer answer than if you were to look it up for yourself. But I still suggest that you continually pray to God and be open to what He is trying to say to you.

Whenever you feel guilty about something, the worse thing you can do is dwell on it for too long. Nothing gets done when you just dwell on the past. (I know that all too well) That does not necessarily mean that you must heal yourself right away; but you should start the effort as soon as possible. Depending on the situation, it can be simple as praying, realizing you’re a sinner and you fully rely on God, asking Him for strength, and then telling yourself “I’m going to do better!”
You’re taking the right steps to talk about your guilt. It takes humility and strength to do that, which are some pious virtues to hang on to! Talking about it can free up your emotions and defuse some of the confusion (or overwhelming pressure) you may have.

Hopefully you caught on to what I was trying to say and that I didn’t confuse you too much!

go to confession, if you are not Catholic make and appointment to talk to a priest. nobody on this forum is equipped or authorized to give counselling to individuals on moral questions or advise on matters that belong in the confessional. If it is personal situation, why on earth would you share it with a thousand strangers on the internet, anyhow? If you would like to ask a general question about Catholic moral doctrine, this would be a good place, but you should do your homework first, check out the CA homepage for your topic, and the Catechism. Then if you find something you don’t understand, ask. but no private revelations, please, this is not Oprah.

I agree with do your own research before asking a question…but I don’t wholely agree with you on the type of question people have to ask on these forums. I’ve seen plenty of personal questions on these forums! From “what’s the appropriate behavior to my situation” to “should I be dating this guy/gal?” It’s probably best to ask general questions on these sites and ask personal questions to people face to face…but sometimes this is the only place people can turn to. But I do agree that stories should be to the point and not over-dramatasized.
1281 admitted that he (or she?) needs advice. We should be open to help anyway we can.

1281,

The best place for your question may be the “Ask an Apologist” fourm. They are the “pros;” it is their job to both explain and defend the Church and her teachings.

Whether you want to know if a sin of yours is mortal or venial, whether you need an annulment, how to complain about liturgical abuse, or something much more serious, they will be able to tell you what the Church teaches, and point you in the right direction.

Also, you can go to the Catholic Answers home page and do a search on your subject. You might even find your question has already been answered!

if a person has a question about morality, and the situation is making him feel guilty, the place to go is confession, not chatting with strangers on the internet. we do not need to hear the details here. If they want to ask a general question about Catholic moral teaching, they ask on the Morality forum, but in any case, the dozens of threads where people brag about their sins are totally inappropriate. this is not the place to make your confession, we talk about sacraments but we don’t confer them.

Sometimes the first step a person makes is to appeal to us here on an anonymous internet forum comprised mostly of faithful Catholics.

We are representatives of the Faith and we need to respond as such. While we do not need to encourage people who “brag about their sins” we do need to have some compassion for a person in a tough situation.

Maybe all they need is to hear someone here suggest they go to confession. Having a positive, caring response from people on this forum may give them the reassurance they need that their priest will be just as caring…

so to 1281:

by all means, ask your question, state your problem or whatever… but be respectful of the members here and do not give us “too much information”, lol. This board is frequented by young teens and we need to remember to keep it “G” rated.

I hope you will post again and give us a chance to help. If you have already gone to confession and no longer have the problem, please just let us know you are ok…

I agree. :clapping:

Confession is a good place to give elaborate details…at least if you get a private appointment with a priest. Otherwise it’s suggested that you do confessions as quickly as possible with the least bit of details unless asked so otherwise. But let’s say 1281 is healed from sin and he (or she) no longer feels guilty of that sin. Most likely 1281 will still be curious about the other solution/s of his/her situation.
In extreme situations…those mothers who have gone through the abortion procedures. They go to confession, get obsolved and now they’re spotless; but there’s still plenty of healing process they must go through like naming their child/ren, praying, and talking about their conflicts with others. Perhaps that’s all what 1281 is getting done through this.

Just out of curiousity…has it been suggested to everyone or anybody else on this forum to simply go to confession and not post their problesm on this forum???
