I come to this forum for this, so.

I have a « friend » (at least, he was a friend) who used to be a catholic. He grew up in a catholic family, but now, with the influence of some of these friends, he is no longer a Catholic. He says to be, but no. He admires Franco, Mussolini, and above all Hitler. he is racist and anti-Semitic. And when I say racist and anti-Semitic … The worst of the worst. Violent. he uses the Bible to justify that blacks people are inferior and that “killing a black or a Jew is not more serious than killing an animal” (it hurts me just to write that.) He became like that because of the internet and a friend of his who act like a cult on him. The only reason he has never attacked / killed someone it’s because I think he still has a conscience and that as many of these people, he talk more than he act (hopefully). Before, it was a close friend. Now I no longer recognize him. His parents don’t know what he think, otherwise, his father will be so angry.
BUT! There is hope. According to his brother, he began to have doubts about the friend who act like a cult on him. And … He sent me a text message asking me how to pray the rosary because “he wants to try.” I sent him a text message explaining how rosary works and asking if he agreed to speak with me for seriously and calmly of his ideas. He said okay. I need all that seems helpful in this case. I’m reading a book who explain how Pie XII and catholic fight against nazism. Looking more specifically the official church documents against the racism, anti-Semitism, Fascism and nazism (better if it’s before Vatican II because I know his father is against the councile so I guess that my friend is also against). Looking also for testimony of people who come from nazism/neo-nazism, to catholicism.

Please, pray for this boy. Without the influence of this friend and all this horrible website on internet, he would have stay a good catholic, like his father and mother. I’m sure that with the help of the Virgin Mary he can change.

Peace and all Good!!
prayer to saint dominic
O Holy Priest of God and glorious Patriarch, St. Dominic, thou who wast the friend, the well-beloved son and confidant of the Queen of Heaven, and didst work so many miracles by the power of the Holy Rosary, have regard for my intercessions. On earth you opened your heart to the miseries of your fellow man, and your hands were strong to help them; now in heaven your charity has not grown less nor has your power waned.
Pray for me to the Mother of the Rosary and to her divine Son, for I have great confidence that through your assistance I shall obtain the favor I so much desire: GaudeamusHodie’s friend, that the Light of Divine Truth & Wisdom my shine upon him, heal him & help him see. Amen.

Praying for you, and him.
If the bible has any influence over him, remind him of Jesus’s greatest commandment: “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.” (John 15:12).
As well as the rosary, ask him to talk directly to Jesus about his thoughts, and assure him that Jesus will hear him, and answer, although it might not be in the way he expects.

In 1938 Pope Pius XI stated “No, no I say to you it is impossible for a Christian to take part in anti-Semitism. It is inadmissible. Through Christ and in Christ we are the spiritual progeny of Abraham. Spiritually we are all Semites.”

Theres an easy way to resolve this, take him to visit the Nazi death camps and let him get that ‘feeling’ that is present there to this day ( as Ive heard many other people say that have visited these places)…I think this would change his ways immediately. Im also assuming hes young, probably mid to late teens, some kids in this age group want to be as rebellious and shocking as possible, when they truly are not what their appearance suggests.

We went to high school with this guy who was a punk rocker, he frequently came to school with mohawk hair do, spiked up with hairspray, it was over 14" tall, and sometimes even multicolored, he wore tight black leather pants, leather jacket with spikes and chains all over it, wore thick black eyeliner that made him look like a demon, yet when you talked to him he was really funny, soft spoken, loved everyone, I dont think he ever got into a fight with anyone, but to someone looking at him who did not know him, they would think he was mean, evil and heartless…sometimes books cant be judged by their covers, my guess is, your friend is just trying to be noticed, or rebelling, etc. and will likely grow out of it within a few years.

Hey OP. I want to respond in French but this is an English language forum :p. I used to be a racist and an anti-semite, much like your friend. I was brain-washed by garbage I read on the internet when I was a rebellious teenager. When I converted to Catholicism, I tried to still hold onto this racism. I could write for a long time about how anti-semitism and racism is factually incorrect and based on lies, but I don’t think this is the real issue since your friend used to be a Catholic.

One document I think would help your friend is “Mit Brennender Sorge” (With Burning Anxiety), an encyclical letter published by Pope Pius XI in 1937 and directed to Nazi Germany. It was actually written mostly by the future Pope Pius XII. It is rather short. It was smuggled into Nazi Germany and read from every Catholic pulpit on Palm Sunday (which is always a very well-attended mass), and it furiously denounced the Nazis and racism. It contradicts all the lies told about the Church in not opposing the Nazis: The Papacy was against the Nazis before the rest of the world, when most other countries still thought Hitler was a good man. This was before Kristallnacht (la nuit de cristal) in 1938.

Pope Pius XI said:
8. Whoever exalts race, or the people, or the State, or a particular form of State, or the depositories of power, or any other fundamental value of the human community - however necessary and honorable be their function in worldly things - whoever raises these notions above their standard value and divinizes them to an idolatrous level, distorts and perverts an order of the world planned and created by God; he is far from the true faith in God and from the concept of life which that faith upholds.

I remember reading this in church once when I still had racism in my heart, but soon enough I was moved to confess this sin and I have never looked back. Please pray for your friend, I will too, this is such an evil affliction to have, and it takes God to change one’s heart here, to give us the grace of repentance. Racism and anti-semitism is so irrational, so factually false, it only is because of pride, hating God and their fellow man that people hold onto these evil thoughts.

Here is the text in French (unfortunately the vatican website does not have a French translation):

viechretienne.catholique.org/pape/mit-brennender-sorge/8650-mit-brennender-sorge

Here it is in English too:

vatican.va/holy_father/pius_xi/encyclicals/documents/hf_p-xi_enc_14031937_mit-brennender-sorge_en.html

I would also recommend that your friend read the book of James (Jacques) and the first letter of John from the Bible:

“Quiconque hait son frère est un meurtrier, et vous savez qu’aucun meurtrier n’a la vie éternelle demeurant en lui.” 1 Jean 3:15

“Celui qui n’aime pas n’a pas connu Dieu, car Dieu est amour.” - 1 Jean 4:8

Thank you all for your prayer and your answer !

I don’t think he want to look like a rebellious teenager. If you saw him, you’ll think is a very good young man (except if you’re black/asian/Jew…). You have to speak to him to see how his soul is full of hate.

Thank you Estevao and Furius for the docs, I keep them.

You’re great ! Merci beaucoup 🙂
