Time and again, I hear appeals for vocations to the priesthood and religious life, but why do I never hear about programs to help Catholics find a good and holy spouse?

There’s a crisis level shortage in vocations right now.
Meanwhile, it seems a sizable number of weddings are still happening every month, so maybe it’s not seen as such a big crisis.
I agree with you that it would be helpful to have more such programs, especially within one’s own diocese or a cluster of parishes.

Great topic and question. It seems like the church is more interested in building its ranks. But one would think that more vocations would come when there’s more families in the Church.

And where do they think priests and religious come from? The average priest has five siblings and was raised in the Faith.

Good question @mythbuster1 .

If we want an increase in vocations to the priesthood , we need an increase in good and holy marriages which are the normal source of vocations to the priesthood .

I certainly wouldn’t mind finding a good and holy wife, annoying that there isn’t any interest to create programs for Catholics to find potential spouses. Especially in the 21st century where good people are hard to find, but alas for until then I must keep looking in the hopes I stumble upon one.

Any old sinner will do. My wife hated the Church when we were preparing for marriage, but she is now confirmed and much holier than I am!
