Based off of what I have read, catholics think that the catholic church is the true church, right?

So will every catholic who attends the church be saved? Just asking. I’m not familiar with the understanding of that.

No. The Catholic Church believes itself to be the Church of Jesus Christ and therefore it contains the fulness of truth but that doesn’t mean that just being Catholic gaurantees salvation. Salvation includes a new way of life that is not of this world but of God. Baptism is a new birth in which you are born to a new life in God that is oriented toward that. You are burried with Christ and reborn in the Spirit to live according to Christ.

Thanks, that cleared up a lot. I have read where catholics have stated if you are not a catholic you will burn. Those aren’t the exact words, but that what was meant.

Yes, the Church teaches that it is the Church founded by Christ and that the fullness of truth subsists within Her.

That does not mean that every Catholic will be “saved.” The Church does not teach any sort of “once saved, always saved” theology or that salvation comes merely from membership in the Catholic Church.

It isn’t as simple as saying if you are a member you are saved and if not you are damned. There are some who are visibly part of the Church but are not spiritually connected. There are also some who are not visibly part of the Church who are spiritually connected to it. That doesn’t mean that there should be apathy on anyones part though. We all must seek the truth and follow it where ever it leads us. To not follow it may have consequences.

That’s ok, I was just informed by a protestant last week that “because” I am Catholic that I will not be going to heaven. So, I guess we both are not then.
