I am discerning my vocation to the capuchin friars. I’m 18, and I started having heretic thoughts that won’t go away let me know if anyone has suggestions or prayers or anything thank you

I’d strongly suggest speaking to your Priest and a doctor about these intrusive thoughts.

Speak to your priest first. These could be temptations now that you are considering the religious life. Once you’ve spoken to Father, then if he thinks they are not due to the above reason, then go and see your doctor about these recurring and unwilled thoughts for help in dealing with them.

as long as you don’t believe these heretical thoughts , then know that these intrusive thoughts are not yours, because your resisting them. The enemy attacks the mind in ways such as this.

I would suggest praying the Rosary if you aren’t at the moment . Our Lady promised that the Rosary destroys vice , decreases sin and defeats heresies. Or the Saint Michael prayer is another powerful prayer in protection from the attacks of the enemy.

I wish you all the best on your discernment and vocation .

You are very young. It could be normal for the maturation process.

Ignore them. Intrusive thoughts are like a drunk lunatic yelling that the people who faked the moon landing are the same ones who orchestrated 9/11. You would pass it by, hear it, disagree with it, and it wouldn’t bother you. So don’t let intrusive thoughts bother you. The more you let them upset you, the worse they get. Everyone has bad thoughts. I suffer from OCD, and I am tormented by them. But trying to fight them, engage them, debate them or getting into a panic when they occur is the surest way to ensure they will continue to torment you. So ignore them like you would the ramblings you hear from a drunk lunatic yelling on the street.

Thoughts popping up in your head happens. It’s normal.

Dwelling on them is a choice.

Choose to only dwell on the truth.
