did you have trouble telling friends and family? im trying to decide how and when to do it. im not really sure how they would react. there are no catholics in my family.

if there is a previous thread for this subject ill take a link to that…

I’m a convert and the only living one in my whole family (grandma was raised Catholic, but never embraced it).

I only told those who asked. After I left my old Baptist church, many asked why I wasn’t there anymore, so that gave me an opportunity to explain things.

If your friends and family aren’t “religious” (attend church), I wouldn’t bother telling them. They probably wouldn’t care.

my family are pretty “religious”, they go to baptist style non-denominational churches and act pious when its convenient for the arguement/situation. a couple are pretty pro-mormon, cause “the ones we know are nice people and the mormons were persecuted in europe long ago and came to america”

the rest are old german baptists that i dont talk to much so they dont matter really, but thats the family history. lol.

There is an ongoing thread: Converts: when did you start discussing becoming Catholic?

God’s peace be with you on this wonderful yet challenging journey.
