The members of my local Public High School-School Board needs prayers said for them. Prayers that they do what they know in their hearts is the right thing to do.

There has been a proposal set before this school board to approve a Gay-Support Club at the local High School. Last night the School Board tabled the decision on the club, so NO decision has been made.

The community has spoken to the school board and has told them NO, they do not want this at the High School. Last night 16 people spoke at the public meeting. Of the 16 people that spoke only 1 supported the club. (The one that made the proposal)

The school board does not want to pass it because passing it will mean loosing the support of the local community. Seeing the local community does not want this in the school. However at the same time they are afraid that if they don’t pass it they will be facing a law-suit. (Examples of federal cases in other states were given)

The person that proposed this gay club said that it is to help promote tolerance. The school board last Friday DID approve to bring back a tolerance club. It was a club the High School had before but had to cut it in 2004 because of budget issues. So this fall the High School will have the PACT (Promoting Awareness Creates Tolerance) club.

So this should cover the need to promote tolerance and give the WHOLE student body tools to respect each other on MANY issues. High School is filled with its cliques. (It was when I went to school) The idea is to bridge the gap between ALL those cliques. This club had success before and I hope that it has success now.

With this in mind please pray for those members of the school board and that they do what is right. Pray that the follow the local community’s lead by saying NO to this gay club. Saying NO could lead to a lawsuit. So pray that if that happens that the school board is willing to fight it.

Father, it is a time for those who can stand up for what is right and good according to You would do so. Please move these people to not be dragged down by the veil of diversity this world proclaims. You have people in place, we know you do. Please move to uphold what is pleasing to you and to give withness to your faithful and especially for those who do not know why it is wrong. Strength is needed for this school board and it’s members. Please let them not contribute to leading children astray.
 
The Local school board tonight gave the okay for the gay-straight alliance club with a 5 to 2 vote.

Tonight there was a pack house at the school board meeting. 11 people spoke to the school board. Only 4 were for the club. The other 7 were against the club.

Those that were against the club had a petition sign with over 600 signatures from those in the community.

Those that were for the club also had a petition of signatures however I’m not sure how many they had.
