But, in this case, PJ, we’re talking about something that isn’t a matter of theological interpretation, which is where the “richness of the Scriptures” discussion is in play; rather, it’s something that’s more an objective question of understanding what the Scriptural author is talking about, on a literal level, in the text of Deut 23:18. In that case, then, what’s in play is literal prostitution, and not ‘conquest of cities’ or ‘spiritual harlotry’.
