Hi,
Could someone recommend me a book or some information on the historical reliability of Paul’s letters? How is it certain that Paul’s letters wern’t tampered with by early Christians to make the resurrection look as if it occured?

Thank you

Well, if Paul did not believe in the resurection, what was he so frantically and fanatically preaching? Paul was once a Pharisee with apocalyptic expectations. He believed Jesus was the long awaited Messiah who would return to earth and judge all people after raising them as well. Passages in the Old Testament such as Daniel 12:2 show that resurrection of the dead had become a hope for jews long before paul was even born.
The critics who try to peddle this revisionist nonsense (that Paul’s letters have been tampered with) are lacking greatly in any evidence what-so-ever to support their attacks. Even the most “progressive” or liberal scholars would rightly affrim the authenticity of passages such as 1 Corinthians ch.15.
Those who attempt to discredit christian beliefs with bunk tatics like that are just kidding themselves.

we can be sure that the entire canon of old and new testament scripture preserved and proclaimed by the Catholic Church in its original languages has not been tampered with and is divinely inspired because Jesus promised to send the Holy Spirit to protect and guide the Church in that role. We know that translations into other languages that have been guided and approved by the Church are faithful to the original, to the extent that the vocabulary and grammar of the new language permits exact or equivalent expression of the meaning of the original, again because the Holy Spirit protects and guides the Church in this matter. We have the word of Jesus himself on this. We have no such assurance about translations or versions written by those outside the teaching authority of the Catholic Church.

Amen to that!
Though I am speaking from a historical standpoint. How we know that no one was tampering with Paul’s letters… especially 1 Corinthians 15. Can anyone recommend some good books on this?
