History of Mysteries of the Rosary?

I know that it developed out of the praying of the psalms, but I was wondering about when did the Mysteries start taking form and become part of it?

Im guessing they were a later development?

You might try looking at the Old Catholic Encyclopedia article on the rosary and even looking at John Paul II’s 2002 letter on the rosary, Rosarium Virginis Mariae. That will probably give you all the background info you could ever want. 🙂

A lot of people attribute the rosary to St. Dominic (13th century).
