History Question Concerning Christian Communities

Was there a period in History where the Catholic Church was the only Christian community? This takes into account Christian communities that were heretical historically.

I tend to think near the beginning of the Middle Ages. Can anyone confirm this?

The first five centuries, more or less. You don’t really have the first major Schism until about the mid 400s, although you did have some small-scale scale ones before that.
