I’ve been thinking about the MP alot, and I honestly think it could cause drastic changes in the Liturgical life of the Church, for the better. If this happens, do you think there is a possibility of Benedict being canonized some day?

I really, don’t know.I think it is really up to God to have who He wants raised to the honors of the altar.

Wow! Somebody’s thinking ahead! 😉

I love living in the same time as a saint! We’ll have to wait and see!

❤️

There’ve been Saints in every age, so you’ve definitely been living in the same time as one or more already!

I know that! 😊

I just meant I love it when you see these people in action and start to know in advance. Like Mother Theresa. You just want to soak up everything they say because you know this person has Catholic living down!

❤️

don’t know. that is for the future.

Who knows. I think the MP (if it exists) will not work drastic changes, but rather it will be a very slow change that will take generations.

(ps: regarding your signature, pray for the canonization of Bl. Pius IX too! 🙂 )

I second that 😃

What would be his miracle? That as a progressive liberal he sat in on the Vatican Council II as one of the “periti” who ushered in the changes, and then after watching the Church self-destruct over a forty year period, miraculously turned into a conservative traditional-loving pope?

I honestly can’t see why you profess to be a Catholic and then turn around and make statements like above!?

Whoa…

Talk about putting the cart miles ahead of the horse.

This gesture is not what it seems, and those who see Benedict as some great “restorer” are sadly mistaken. Look at the man’s past, for it tells you how to read the present/future actions.

Have you actually read what she said? She did not have Catholic living, or even thinking, “down”.

What do you mean by this? I know Ratzinger was somewhat of a liberal in his earlier days, but not anymore.

I know she struggled, but that’s part of what made her so holy: that she could do all she did while struggling. Unlike certain people ( certain people named “Maria” 😊 ) she managed to avoid constant pouting. If I were to ever make saint, I would be the patron saint of whiney people! :byzsoc:

And before you count anyone out of sainthood because of their past, I suggest you recall the pasts of many of Jesus’ good friends, like Matthew the tax collector.

❤️

Or later saints like Augustine or Francis or Thomas Becket who led rather wild lives early on. Their example gives us hope that it’s always possible to turn to God for forgiveness and renewal of life no matter how far from a Christian life we’ve been living.

As demonstrated by his trip to the synagogue in Cologne, I suppose?

He has not changed one bit, but he is sharper about how to play the game with the ‘conservative’ sort.

Yes indeed- and don’t forget Marcel Lefebvre— if it wasn’t for him and his movement the Tridentine Mass would not exist.
