during the recessional hymn Father started clapping along to the music, and the congregation joined in. grrrr.:tsktsk:
I think people just like clapping…sometimes for no reason at all…like last sunday before the final blessing a guy went up to make an announcement
Something like:
“We will have a gathering nexrt week for any young adult who wants to come to do (something)”

and for some reason people started clapping…i thought to myself

REALLY???!!! why are yall clapping he just made an announcement about some meeting:shrug:

Maybe they were just thrilled to know that there are thought to be some youth attending Mass at their parish? 🤷

Let’s say that the priest makes an announcement about a 50 year wedding anniversary for a parishioner couple…total silence…then the mass concludes with the final blessing.

Rude?

Well was the mass celebrated for them???
If not should the priest even announce it???

In any case clapping for a special occasion seems ok…but sometimes people think they need to clap at everything!

Like i said in a previous post…people clapped because some guy made an announcment for a meeting…applause🤷

You know we could go on and on with when is it okay to applaud and when it’s not for days. It’s simply common sense. A few weeks ago was our Pastor’s birthday, the deacon included him in the Prayers of the Faithful, after the final blessing someone yelled happy birthday and we all applauded. It’s just common sense.
