Holy Communion for protestants?

You may want to speak with the local priest, but in many locales I’ve seen, pre-First Communion children go through the line, with their arms crossed on their chest to get a blessing from the priest or deacon. In some places I’ve seen adults, that apparently couldn’t/shouldn’t receive communion, do the same.
I really dislike sounding legalistic, but this has come up time and again, and time and again we refer to Protocol No. 930/08/L.
  1. In a similar way, for others who are not to be admitted to Holy Communion in accord with the norm of law, the Church’s discipline has already made clear that they should not approach Holy Communion nor receive a blessing. This would include non-Catholics and those envisaged in can. 915 (i.e., those under the penalty of excommunication or interdict, and others who obstinately persist in manifest grave sin).
As a private letter, it does not strictly have any legal force, but I would consider it strongly discouraged. Also, several priests are against this practice.

The communion procession is not a time for a personal blessing. I like the answer that someone gave about staying in the pew and praying for Christian unity. THAT is very appropriate.
