please this is a question in the history of the Holy Eucharist anybody can tell me when in the Latin Rite we began to use Hosts instead of unliven bread thanks

Hosts are unleavened bread.
 
According to the rabbi’s the best form for Matza (the unleavened bread used in the celebration of passover) is round (as made by rolling it out with a rolling pin. One rabbi explained it as the round shape gives us the reminder that the Lord has no beginning and no end, like the outer edge of the Matza.

Our host is based on this, a round ‘loaf’ of unleavened bread. BUT I don’t know when we began to use this for hosts. I know that the Eastern Rites use leavened bread.
 
The small round hosts that we are familar with started being used around the 9th and 10th centuries.
