Does Holy Water forgive venial sins?

I also dropped some Holy Water on some pieces of paper. Do I have to burn or bury the papers?

I have read it does forgive venial sins if used in faith. I’m not sure about the paper thing. Maybe do that just in case

If you bless yourself with holy water, then dry you hand on your shirt, do you burn the shirt? No! Same for the paper…

Good! I was worried about burning my toilet down after I drank Holy Water.

The traditional pious thought is that spilled holy water (or the drops that fall when you bless yourself) is for the souls in purgatory. I love that thought. 🙂

NO, but attendance at Mass does, if ine has no unconfessed Mortal sins.

Holy water is a “sacramental” only. A means to get closer to Christ.

God Bless,

oops my bad

You do not need to burn/bury the paper. Example: many people sprinkle holy water around a new house. It would not work if then they had to burn the house.

Yes! I was raised with the habit of sprinkling some for the souls in purgatory every time before making the sign of the cross with it! 🙂

I love that thought too, whenever I go get holy water from the church some spills on the floor.

I sprinkle holy water around the house at least once a week after cleaning, sometimes other times also. It is a great way to pray for your home.

I usually bless myself with Holy Water before I go to bed, and last night I got a little carried away and some fell on the floor. It was enough that I was concerned it may not be good for my wood floor, so I wiped it up with a kleenex and threw it away. I wasn’t sure at the time if that was the right thing to do, and I felt bad but I didn’t know what else to do. Was that a sin? I asked God to forgive me–that I didn’t mean anything bad by it.
