I do them, and do them well. I have repainted, done tons upon tons of plumbing, I wired our home network, and a number of other things that aren’t jumping to mind. What will my parents do without me around to fix broken stuff?

My tool box has Duck Tape, WD-40, bailing wire, and JB Weld. I have recently added aluminum tape.

Needless to say my wife doesn’t care much for my approach to repairs, and tends to fix things without telling me.

I have two Ty Home Improvement Types living with me! 👍

Both my husband and my father inlaw do an amazing job. The only negative I have …

they take too long. But, they do super and they are way cheaper than hiring out!

👍

I do almost all my home improvements. My wife gets impatient with the pace of the work, but I always tell her; “You can’t make a baby in one month with 9 women!”.

My husband is a wonderful handyman. He could make a living at it, if he had to. He even makes nice furniture for me – end tables, but they are wonderful to clean and care for.

I try to help out with making curtains, pillows and such.

He is also a landscape designer by trade and so we have a rather nicely landscaped yard, too.

I try to be grateful that he loves me and puts up with me.

Absolutely EVERYTHING is hired out…my husband has many skills, but home improvement/repair, car maintenance, landscaping, etc… are not among them. Ditto for me.

At least the work gets done! 🙂 And as the old saying goes, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! 👍

We’ve gotten very good at doing things ourselves since we bought our first home last year…we’re hoping to turn it around for a pretty penny when we get reassigned next year or so…so there’s much to be done in short time with pretty limited funding…(what else is new?!) – That being said, big jobs, safety related (like putting a new railing up on the top of the stairs) and electrical all gets hired out – thank goodness for the home warranty for the electrical and plumbing --$50 service call is all we pay. We’re concentrating on paint and landscaping (also putting down more updated vinyl flooring in the bathrooms – if it were a “forever” house, I’d do tile, but I just want it to look nice for a year or so…LOL!)

It’s actually a huge relief to be able to make changes for once - -living in military family housing, you can’t do anything but plant flowers – and even those have to meet standards…sigh

My son and I do all repairs. I work in electronics so electrical is not scary to me…The day I closed on my house I replaced all the plumbing in kitchen I had asked to have repaired while I was renting but they wouldn’t do it. We have very little money, single mom with 3 kids and no child support, so we either do it ourselves or it doesn’t get done.

My home improvement intentions imitate “Total Makeover …Home Edition”; my actual improvements more resemble “The Red Green Show”, i.e., plenty of duct tape.

kind of a cross between Ty Pennington with his bullhorn and a tornadoe, i want it done fast and good! better good than fast though, and a tornadoe, i destroy EVERYTHING in order to fix it. the other day i decided to clean out the Junk Drawer, so i took it and dumped it in the middle of the living room floor, my hubby just stood there with his jaw dropped and made huf noise and left the room. i did the same thing in the bedroom closet, tore everything out of there and threw it on the bed and the floor and then got hubby to help me. i get a little carried away. its my coping method around a certain time of the month. some women have PMS, i have MCSN (Must Clean Something Now).

If the improvements require more than Painting or using a lawnmower, I hire someone. Handyman activities never appealed to me.

I’m more of the type who would rather spend his time buying furniture & appliances and decorating than fixing or building things.
