It occurs to me that sin is seldom mentioned in the mass. How often have you heard any of these mentioned?

Sin??? What is that? :bigyikes:  Sin and its chief consequence hell mysteriously disappeared 40 years ago, never to be seen again.

This was supposed to be a poll -

Which of the following have you heard mentioned in the last year:

MORTAL SIN

FORNICATION/ADULTERY

RASH JUDGEMENT

CONTRACEPTION

NONE OF THE ABOVE??

Father Leo Clifford gave a homily on sin. It is the best sermon I ever heard. If you search the internet you can find it, It’s one of his reflections.

We have a new priest at the parish near me, from India. His homily last Sunday was on the need for repentence and the sacrament of Reconciliation. First time I’ve heard anything on that this year!

It’s mentioned about as many times as a large new crucifix is inserted in plain view behind the altar. Nobody wants to think of hard things at church. After all, Jesus was hip and cool and just wants us all to have a good time - he just got caught up with the wrong crowd and ended up on a cross - silly guy.

The only sin today is not endorsing labor unions, or “gay” rights, or being “intolerant”. No one goes to hell. Did you not get the memo? We are happy, clappy, social justice people. We are Church. Please do not focus on the downers in the Gospel. All that matters is that we hold hands and be nice.
