Please cite your source for this assertion. There are a lot of gay priests in the Church. And, it is now commonly known that the rate of AIDs in priests is higher than that in the general population. It is only logical that where there are concentrations of gays there will be some gay priests.
All I know about what the diocese does about this is that it’s not enough. And I have to be concerned that the former archbishop of San Fran has been apointed to the former Cardinal Ratzinger’s position as prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith. How well can he handle such an important job if in his own diocese he had this type of deviancy taking place? What does the diocese do about this?
Maybe to keep an eye on him and to be able to put a smackdown on the SFO heretics by appointing a more orthodox bishop? We can hope. All I know about what the diocese does about this is that it’s not enough. Is Father Schexnayder a diocesan priest? I thought I read somewhere that he had been relieved of his faculties are you sure he is still a practicing priest?Read about the renegade, homosexual priest in Frisco, James Schexnayder, here. Unbelievable that this is allowed to happen.
Also in this article were excerpts from the statement they planned to read at the USCCB conference that fall (2002). Oy.National Association of Catholic Diocesan Lesbian and Gay Ministries director Father James Schexnayder attended the Saturday focus session on “Challenging Heterosexism in Parishes” led by professor Helen Deines of Spalding University in Kentucky. During the session, Deines asked participants to name *signs of heterosexism * in parishes. Among the examples given were Mother’s Day and Father’s Day celebrations, the absence of gay and lesbian members, and the sacrament of Baptism. Deines offered several tips for increasing the visibility of homosexuals within Catholic churches.
The St. Catherine Review listed a lot of the same info in their 1998 article critiquing “the Bishops’” document “Always Our Children” (1)Is this a reliable source?? It sounds like such scandal is too obvious for the bishops not to say anything about it.
I find that extremely hard to believe. Where in the world did you read that? There are a lot of gay priests in the Church. And, it is now commonly known that the rate of AIDs in priests is higher than that in the general population. What the hell??? Are you joking? First off, a priest shouldn’t know anything about what sex is like (“humane” or “empathetic”)–hetero or homosexual–because they shouldn’t be having it, and second how in the name of all that is good did he come to this conclusion that gay people…well, you read it above…At one recent conference, Detroit bishop Thomas Gumbleton stated to the applause of a congregation, “[Homosexuals] make love more humanely, largely because they are better able empathetically to feel what their partner is feeling.”
