SB 48, signed into law by Gov. Jerry Brown on July 14, requires social science instruction in California’s public schools include the contributions of homosexuals, bisexuals and transgender persons to the history of the state and nation. The state’s bishops had opposed the bill, calling it “unwise and dangerous.”
“We have been seeing a groundswell of opposition to the enactment of SB 48, and now it is time to act,” said Brad Dacus, president of Pacific Justice Institute, in a July 21 news release. “We encourage everyone to visit StopSB48.com to learn more and join the coalition. This effort will require us all to sacrifice and work together. We cannot afford to stay silent or stand on the sidelines. Californians are extremely tolerant, but we draw the line when history is revised to please a special interest group.”

now if that includes the spreading of HIV et al by inappropriate sexual practices and promiscuity as one of the key contributions of this group to american society I would be all for it. It is the greatest historical impact that community had on the state to raise the awareness that sexual promiscuity is a problem for humankind.

“The new law, opposed by legislative Republicans, prohibits teaching from textbooks or other instructional materials that reflect adversely on people because of their sexual orientation.”
is a down to interpretation. The spread of HIV is a major contribution to american society creating a multi billion dollar industry to work on it - nothing negative, a lot of jobs
