I was listening to a local protestant talk show host talk about Canada’s legalazation of gay marriage, his big thing was we must watch Canada to see how this effects them as a country.

This got me thinking what would the social downfalls be of a country that legalized homosexual unions. We all know the what the spiritual ramifications would be and how they would take hold, but how does gay marriage literally effect the country on a social level?

Thank you!

The downfall is that if it is illegal to prohibit same sex marriage on the basis that it discriminates because of sexual orientation, then marriages based on other sexual orientations must also be allowed. Polygamy, polyandry, pedophilia. Also, if marriage between a man and woman is not given any special societal benefits, it will tend to decline in importance (as it already has). Children without fathers and mothers will be the losers, and society too.

On a social level I think it is going to be one of the biggest attacks on the dignity of the family. To see two women or men trying to imitate a real family is a travesty and a huge blow to the real mode of family life. And like the poor children today need anything more to confuse them on what is right and wrong.

One result of homosexual marriage will be homosexual divorce. I have not seen the issue of homosexual divorce discussed anywhere.

Homosexuals are very promiscuous. It is unlikely that two homosexuals can be faithful to each other. With homosexual marriage homosexuals will have a lot higher expectations of each other. And these expectations that cannot be met.

This will lead to a lot of homosexual divorce. Homosexuals will have to pay alimony to each other. They will have to pay child support. They will have split their pensions, their houses, their bank accounts, their investments, and everything else they own with the other person. And this will be a person that they no longer like. And possibly a person who made little or no financial contribution.

The fights in the courtrooms, especially between lesbians will be worse than the fights in family court. There will be more murders.

I guess I tend to view things in the long run…
Looking at how long it took for the Jewish people to return to God (after the Divided Kingdom)…
Looking at how long it took for Jesus to come the first time…
Looking at how long the holocaust went on before the war ended…
Looking at how the hippies of the 60s turned into the yuppies of the 80s…
Looking at how after the sexual revolution of the 60s the health consequences is finally leading to a return to chastity…
I see this as another grand experiment testing the natural order and just as previous tests failed (though with much damage along the way) the natural order returns to the forefront because it is Truth.
Truth will prevail.

Yes, they dynamic of the family will be tested but I believe, in the long run (perhaps a generation or two) the children of these ‘newly defined families’ will long for and establish traditional families when their time comes.

As Jesus described the end times - the wars, the strife, the persecution - they are all birthing pains. While we are in the midst of them they seem like the End but it is really just the beginning. I kinda figure this test is another contraction, the duration of which is unknown, but if it’s anything like the ‘free love’ generation, which preceded it, a good 20-30 years would not be a surprise.

This is a simple question to answer.

You only have to understand that Gods plan is the proliferation of life.

Anything that is against life at any level is the work of Satan.

Legitimizing homosexual behavior is the same a legitimizing the work of Satan.

The more homosexual activity proliferates the less life (Gods plan) will proliferate.

The social ramifications are that the population will decrease.

The eternal ramifications are that there will be fewer souls that go to heaven.

A person who rejects the proliferation of life is a person who has rejected God.

As catholic always think in terms of what is eternal and not what is transient (of this world.)
