God, I’m tired of hearing this canard.

You know. The one trotted out about how homosexuals are the “most talented” employees and that major corporations would absolutely fall apart if they did not have access to these Gifted Folks.

Realistically, I doubt this. I think even Disney would keep cruising in profitability, with or without homosexuals, and with or without redheads. . . with or without left-handers. . . with or without Boston Bruins fans, etc.

Such global generalizations quickly make anyone cynical about the value of not only these outrageous claims, but also about the complicit media outlets.

I can’t say I’ve heard this one much. But yes, it’s totally inappropriate to reinforce qualitative stereotypes.

I can’t think of anything good about reducing people to stereotypes.

I have read however that in general, homosexuals score higher on IQ tests than straights.

I wouldn’t dwell on it. Just as I wouldn’t dwell on racial and gender differences. There are enough controversies over what IQ tests measure, don’t measure, account for, and fail to account for.

Part of that can also be attributed to homosexuals on average having higher levels of education. While IQ is supposed to be a measure of innate ability many IQ tests do have an educational bias.

I can’t stand when people say things like this! It’s hypocritical because these are the same people who run around saying that “we are all equal, there is no difference between group A and group B…”

When I was working in the technology area of a large corporation, we were once told in a “diversity class” that there was “straight programming” and “gay programming,” each with different but “complimentary” approaches. All this time I had thought code was code.

:ehh:

I can tell you in 20+ years of coding I could not tell the sexual orientation of the person that wrote the code simply by looking at it. I could tell you who likely wrote it by their individual style, but I have never once seen a “gay programming” approach even from people I know we’re homosexual. Sounds like another attempt to make homosexu… err… diversity relevant an every possible way and place imaginable (even when a psychiatric patient could tell you it didn’t make sense).

. . . with respect to the IQ difference suggestion, I tend to suspect that most of the time when you take a subgroup IQ from the general IQ it will be larger, as long as the subgroup is not obviously defective, etc.

There might be a psychological element to this; given other indicators (higher drug use, unsafe multiple sex partners, etc.), homosexuals AS A GROUP might be more inclined to take serious risk, or deal with risk with less avoidance. . . and this might well be a virtue in some situations.

oh,sinister, dexter. never forgetting your wives make you look talented on even a good day

Or homosexuals, when in a same-sex relationship, raise kids equally IF NOT better than those in heterosexual relationships.

That isn’t quite what is being said, what is being said is that some of the best talent is gay and gay-friendly policies help companies recruit the best gay talent.

Selection bias because the test pool skews richer, more educated, whiter, gay men.

I think that might have been an analogy.

Can you guess someone’s gender by their code?

Gay couples according to some studies raise kids better than single parents.

ESPECIALLY Bruins fans…we need more anti-Bruins legislation, if you ask me.

About “studies show gays raise better kids” that’s garbage. I can’t imagine these studies being all that objective. Like what was posted above about IQ tests.

In my world, the gays that have adopted kids are all above average income, etc (you know the list.) None of the younger, poorer couples adopt. Kids are an after-thought to accesorize rather than the natural outcome of the relationship.

That might be true of gay men, but it isn’t true of lesbians who also happen to be more likely to have kids than gay men are.
