How are we as Christians supposed to honor our fathers and mothers? What if they ask us to sin?

Do not disrespect them when you say no.

Do not talk bad about them.

Honor them by standing up for the faith.

No one on earth, not your parents, not a Priest, NOBODY may demand that you sin.

You can honor your parents by living an honorable life. Sinning, even if done at their request, dishonors them. Then they’d have to account to God for your sins that they encouraged. If they are encouraging you to sin, you can honor them by refusing their request and praying for them to be better parents.

By always honoring God first and foremost. Then your neighbor (parents) as yourself.

Mark**, Chapter 12: 28-31 “**“Which is the first of all the commandments?” Jesus replied, “The first is this: ‘Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is Lord alone! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

This is hard for me to do. I was adopted at birth. But that was not the problem directly. They could not have children so adopted my brother first. He is perfect in their eyes. He is beautiful, lean, independent, and the list could go on and on. I was a sickly child, always chubby/now over weight and my list goes on. My dad told to lose weight in high school or nobody would want me or love me. Me and my husband had a problem with our teen daughter so we went to counseling. Well my parents turned on me and my husband and tried to take our daughter away from us. I believe cause she just wants her. She was told shw was pregnant at the same time I was, but then turned outt the lab was wrong. It hit her hard cause this suppose to be the first child she could carry. As I grew she got closer to the baby I was carrying. And when she was born (17 years ago) in her and my dads eyes I don’t do a good enough job. She tried to manipulate the counselor in to thinking she would be a better parent, he saw through her. This has been 3 years ago. I have not gotten past that. I don’t trust either of them at all. And really don’t want to see them either. There is much much more to this and I won’t bother you with it. But you get the idea. Oh, my adopted mom is the one that would not let go to the Catholic church when I was young. She made me afraid to go by telling me that it is a cult and they worship the Pope. These are southern baptist. If I tried as an adult to go to another baptist church I was made to feel that I was turning my back on my church. I let her guilt me for many years, but the counselor helped me brake that burden. Then she turned on him.

As far as my birthmother, I like her ok but have little respect for her. Abortions were not legal at the time of my birth so I skimmed by there. She started having abortions as soon as it was legal. She gave me up cause I would get in the way of her partying and chemical life she was leading. So that is that.

So what do I do? I just try to honor GOD, cause I don’t know how to honor bad behavior. Sorry to say have no respect for them at all. I do love my in-laws.
