I really like Saint Francis de Sales. Now recognized as a Doctor of the Church, he brought a multitude of Swiss souls who had converted to Calvinism back into the Catholic fold. He lived from 1567-1622.

St Teresa of the Andes (1900-1920)

Pope St John Paul II held her up as a model for youth because she attained holiness in her life in the world. She was in Carmel less than a year when she died.


She made vows on her deathbed, so she never actually received the black veil. It was common when a daughter entered the cloister to borrow a habit so the young lady’s family could have a photo of her in the habit. Once she entered, it was presumed no photos would ever be taken.

So this photo dates to before she actually entered the monastery! 😄
 
My favorite story about him was that he got stopped by a bunch of anti- Mary people in a dark alley one night (I think one was his college acquaintance) and they told him “Throw down your rosary!” And instead of pulling out his rosary he pulled out his sword and fought them all off.

Imelda Lambertini (1322-1333) died at age 11

She looks pretty darn incorruptible for being dead close to 700 years. 🤔

St Imelda is the patron Saint of first communicants. Not sure why they buried her in the garb of a religious. 🤨

I love St Isidore for his simplicity. He lived quietly with his wife (Maria Torribia who is also a saint). He went to church every day and when he didn’t get back in time for work, angels would tend the fields for him. Anyway, it’s the simple life they led that I love, and their devotion to God. Maria became a hermit after Isidore died.

Saint Margaret Mary Alecoque (1647 -1690) is a loved saint of mine that I shall end with.

She is very much less appreciated and loved than she deserves in our times. She was in many ways, it seems, similar to our Saint Faustina. Devotion to the Sacred Heart, I think, was still much more prominent in the first part of the 20th century but it has diminished since then in popularity, I believe.

Are you sure that is her? Because a lot of those bodies visible in caskets are masks and the remains are behind them. Some of the bodies that were incorrupt when exhumed did begin to deteriorate when out in the air.
 
I think most of the ones that have an immaculate looking face are actually covered with wax, like Imelda and Bernadtte, for exmaple.

They’re very pretty, but I wonder what their skin actually looks like.
