For those who read my thread in the parenting section…well…I now have a clean house. NOT just a clean house, but a super clean house!

Hubby, kids and me all stopped complaining (well hubby likes to clean–I think he was a marine drill sargeant in his past life, I love you honey:p ) and just DID IT. We split up the rooms…and we got it all done in 3 hours!

It probably would have taken one person 12 hours to do…but we all did it…and we had our company over tonight, and celebrated Thanksgiving today, because my dh has to work tomorrow.

Kiddos and me plan on watching Christmas movies all day tomorrow, and eating leftovers.

But…I apologized to my kids today…and hubby. I have not been a good example of how to take ownership of one’s flaws…and one’s laziness. I told them that I can’t expect them to jump and start cleaning …if I don’t do it enough myself.

Anyways…just sharing the outcome. I HAVE A CLEAN HOUSE!👍 :extrahappy: :dancing: :egyptian: :yeah_me:

Thank you to all who contributed to my thread, served as my ‘shrink’ lol…and helped me to see the light. I reaaaallly appreciate it. I guess we can’t change others, only ourselves.

I really want to keep my house super clean like this…It’s a great feeling…

BTW, for the record…my house wasn’t that bad…but…my kid’s bathroom… That was frightening. Empty bags of chips and soda cans? I said…what are you doing in here?

We all like our clean house…and hopefully, getting dd to do her chores won’t be a chore for ME, anymore. 😉

:extrahappy: yay! Glad to hear it…and the tone of your post is so encouraging:thumbsup:

Wanna get your little gang together and come do my place now?

LOL! Sure, why not. 😃

The day started out a bit grim…hubby was yelling, kids were complaining (dd moreso lol)…I had a headache from this dreadful junk my husband bought to clean the toilets…but, then there was a turning point where we all just stopped griping and got it done.
I was so happy to show people around the place, and not be embarassed because this or that wasn’t clean. lol :o

I said to hubby…why can’t we just get a housecleaning service like twice a month, for the tough stuff…like the floor tiles, carpets, frig cleaning, etc?

You know what he said? He said…‘yes, you know Sharon it might not be a bad idea.’

I nearly fell over.

But, you know, in doing it ourselves…I mean…it CAN be done.

I read this article recently about having a cluttered/messy house, and how it can cause depression. The reason being that the more stuff that piles up, you become overwhelmed. And the more overwhelmed one feels, then depression can set in, because human beings are designed to accomplish something.

I wasn’t depressed…lol But, I can honestly feel a weight lifted off of me.

Thanks for helping me in the other thread, Malia. You’re a good friend.

Oooooohhh I am soooooo jealous!! Mine is a disaster area! The “cleaning fairies” that my DH and girls think comes to visit seems to have gone on vacation 😛

I guess I will get to it after Thanksgiving before I start my Christmas decorating 👍

Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy your clean home!

Hurray for the teamwork, too!

Thank you! I wish you success in your cleaning also. I doubt I’ll ever find it…fun…or exciting. But, I can find things now! 😃 Have a happy Thanksgiving!!

Congrats on a clean house for the holidays! 👍 I’m seriously thinking about bringing in a cleaning crew before the new baby arrives. I just don’t have the energy to do it myself, and husband is not very “alert” about what needs to be done. Maybe that’s what I’ll ask for for my birthday! That, and a new kitchen faucet.

That’s great news!

For me, its the picking up and putting away that’s the problem, not the actually cleaning with cleaner. I guess we have to get organized first.

Were you already organized? Or was that included in the three hours?

That ROCKS.👍

I’m not saying anything about my house at this point (although it does look ok – just not great!)

It is a mystery indeed. My son said that he eats in his room, which I know…when he’s playing video games, and then he gets up and throws the garbage out in the bathroom. Okay…there was an empty soda can on the sink…yuck is right!😊 I said, should I set up a lil picnic table for you people in here? 😃

That is the part I hate too…organizing, throwing stuff out…I agree. If everything was already picked up, and all we had to do was vacuum, and clean with ammonia, etc…it would have been easier. But, I’m a terribly unorganized person. Like there is this huge drawer in the kitchen…where EVERYTHING gets thrown.

But, we got it all done! Something to be truly thankful for this Thanksgiving–a clean home!🙂

woo! Yay for clean houses!! :extrahappy: :extrahappy:

now I think I understand better how my mom feels the twice a year when we thoroughly clean the house.

Oh good, there is hope for us yet! Maybe when everyone gets a little older, I tell myself, but I don’t want to wish everyone’s childhood away. Oh well, we’ll keep plugging away with our “chores” and get it to the acceptable level!
