I pray for an end to abortion everyday and try to model morality to our youth. I will speak against the murder of the innocent whenever given the chance, however, I feel compelled to do more. What can I do ? What do you do?

Working in a crisis pregnancy center, helping the women who might abort, is one good option.

Some people pray the rosary outside clinics.

Being loving and helpful to the young women in your life is one of the best ways to help, because women who abort often feel they have no value, so neither do their children. Some are too scared to reach out for help, because people in their lives have not been helpful. Some are so selfish that they cannot conceive of putting themselves out for another. Preventing women from being that way by being a positive influence, making them see that people outside themselves have value and positive impact, could help.

Just some suggestions. I personally am too involved in raising little ones to do much outside my home right now. Also, I get so emotional about babies and birth, I am not sure I have the right composition to be effective at doing anything outside a clinic. I wouldn’t be able to stop myself from thinking, “Her baby is going to die,” and, “Her baby just died,” as I watched people going in and out. I don’t think I could control myself for very long.

Also living in Arizona, I am sure that duskyjewel will agree that we are very fortunate to have a very active pro-life Bishop. Our diocese is very involved in the local pro-life movement. This opens up many opportunities to get involved.

With that in mind, I would start at the parish level. Get involved in your parish’s pro-life or sanctity of life ministry. If there is none, ask your pastor about starting one, or perhaps a pro-life prayer group. Then check with your diocese about any pro-life activities they are involved with that will allow lay people to also be involved.

There are many resources available online. And also remember that pro-life work is really about working with other pro-life entities in your community. As the pro-life chairman for my parish’s Knights of Columbus council, I work with many pro-life groups here in Arizona, not just Catholic groups. Also keep in mind that being pro-life includes protecting life at all stages, from birth to natural death, not just fighting for an end to abortion.

You might start by researching a couple of webistes.

www.priestsforlife.org

cpforlife.org/id105.htm This one is for a Knights for Life group based out of Lousisiana. they have done a lot of work and have a lot of great resources available on their website.

I also noticed your name, are you a Knight? If not, join and then help with or start a pro-life committee with your K of C council. Every council should have a pro-life comittee, and they should support your efforts even with money when necessary and within reason.

And as always, prayer is always needed, so never stop praying for the respect that life deserves at all stages.

If you would like to talk with me anymore, you can send me a private message.

This DVD The Cost of Abortion is something you may consider showing at your parish or other organization. Even giving this to others for use as an educational tool, or to educate others.

My wife and I took in unwed mothers in order to help them through delivery and first weeks with new baby. It is a ministry that is little promoted much to the shame of Right to Life and other pro-life groups. The women having abortions feel trapped in some fashion. This is a way out of the trap for them. Save a life. Take home an unwed pregnant lady today.

since joining birthright many years ago most of our efforts, volunteering, financial support etc. go toward direct support and aid to pregnant mothers and their babies, and agencies and outreaches with that mission. for instance, finding jobs, housing, medical care, clothing, prescriptions, food, counselling, etc. for them.

also membership in pro-life groups which provide legislative updates and alerts so we can more directly affect the legal end of the fight. and of course participating in parish and diocesan pro-life events and making educating the youth a priority.

I feel the same way, but if you even bring up the mention of abortion as murder, you are treated with contempt. If I say anything about it, ‘thats just your opinion’ is the reply I get. I agree completely with what the Holy Father has said about the ‘dictatorship of relativism’. I really desire to go out and spread the word that it is evil, but few people pay attention.

I just end up leaving it up to our Blessed Lord and frequently have the cause of life for a Rosary intention.

Stuart, our main activity should be prayer. We should not be getting into confrontations with anybody, although, if someone asks, I have no problem telling them how I feel. You presence outside of an abortion mill is the same as spreading the word. You voice in your parish is the same as spreading the word, and believe me, there are plenty of our own in our parishes that need to word as well.

I have been involved with youth ministry for over 14 years. Annually, we do a baby shower for a crisis pregancy center and at every meeting we pray to end abortion.

Well, a pro-life president is our best chance for getting Roe v Wade overturned, which is the necessary condition to end legal abortion. It would not be a bad idea to work to make that a reality this November.

Otherwise, trying to persuade women in the several seconds you have as they walk into the clinic actually does often prove successful. I personally have not done this, but am looking for a group to do it with. But don’t expect it to be easy, and don’t expect this behavior to get people to like you. Jesus assured us that we would be at odds with the world! Though he also comforted us when he said “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me first”

Yes, it’s important to remember that the next President might very well be selecting two new Supreme Court Justices, and although overturning Roe V Wade wont end abortion, it will send a message of life as the debate then turns soley on the states.

Bless you!! You are both great people! :clapping: :clapping:

OP, I think the answer is to pray, pray, & pray some more. And while you are at prayer, remember to ask to know what form your ministry may be in.:gopray: :gopray: :gopray:
