If you are a baptised Catholic then you are a Catholic forever even if you turn your back on the Church. There is no such thing as an ex-Catholic.
There are only two types of Catholic - those in a state of grace and those in a state of mortal sin.

What can be said is that the situation in China is a complex one.

It is much more complex than simply a yes or no, whether or not the Church “recognizes” one or the other or both. It is a matter of which bishops are in communion with Rome and which are not. Many who were illicitly ordained have been reconciled with the Church.

Not exactly. Many of the bishops in the CPCA are in communion with the Pope, and have regularlized their situation even if originally illicitly ordained or consecrated as bishop.

Again, it’s much more complex than what you have written above and not nearly so clear-cut.
