House "Cleansing"

Hi,

I was speaking briefly with my Priest after Mass on Sunday, he said he was going to perform a “House Cleansing” that afternoon and that he had never done one before. He is in his early 50’s. Does anyone know what this is. I was afraid to ask him. Thanks in advance.

Soon to move home myself, I too would be interested in the response…is this similar to a house blessing or something else entirely?
 
Uh, I find that reply a little weird :confused: Why an answer like that? 😦
 
this sounds just like a house blessing that is normally done for any home that a Catholic is moving into. the Priest may have been requested to place special emphasis on making sure any evil was cast out of the house during the blessing, which I believe is a standard prayer of excorcism of a type, done when many different objects are blessed.

The traditional prayer for blessing a St. Benedict medal or St. Benedict crucifix comes to mind, I think it has a special emphasis on excorcising any evil spirit.
 
Maybe he’s preparing to can the “liturgist”, the director of “worship environment” and the vice president for “liturgical ministries?”

Wait, that would be a HouseCLEANING… 😉
