I ask my prayer friends here to please pray that something positive happens here for us. We are currently renting the home we live in–we moved to Florida last summer, and wanted to rent for a year or so to be sure before buying in a particular area. Well, the owner of this home started bullying us last September, asking us to buy the home–or he was going to give it back to the bank. (I think he was bluffing, and thought this would scare us to buy or move out, because he wants to sell it, really.) I contacted one of the best real estate lawyers in town, given to me by a fellow coworker who recommended him–and he said that as long as I have a one year lease, this man cannot get us out of the house. He cannot sell it, while we’re living there.

So, we told him this before the holidays, and that we would consider buying it, but we’d get back to him in January. He left a vm msg on our home phone tonight, stating that if we don’t want to buy it, he is going to put it up for sale in a few weeks. I’m going to call the lawyer tomorrow, to see what our rights are, etc…but we also may consider buying the home. We like it a lot–and we like the schools, etc, but there are also a lot of better deals in our neighborhood, so…we shall see.

Please pray that we will not be harassed by this man–or that the law is on our side, and we will not have to move before our lease is up. I believe that the lease sticks in Florida–but I’m just feeling sad about this recent situation–just happened a few minutes ago!😦 It’s always something–my husband’s career is now going fine–and now this. It’s like, why can’t things just be smooth?😦

Thank you for your prayers, in advance.

Aw WG, Everything is going to work out for the best. I don’t think their is any way he can force you guys out with that lease. Try not to let this unnerve you. Stay close to your PenguinsFan and we’ll pray for your family and this pot hole in the road of life.😉 God the Father hears all his children’s prayers, the Holy Spirit will guide you guys.

Look at the recent events, DH got a good job, with a good company, DS is recovering from Oral surgery and doing well, right? So this is something that you have wisely asked for prayers, guidance and support for. As for realestate in Tampa Metro area right now, I think you guys are in the cat-bird-seat as renters.

Praying for WG and PF, you guys are in our prayers.:gopray2: And remember, “Work like everything depends on you, Pray like everything depends on God.”

May The Lord enter into this situation and resolve it happily…will be keeping you and your husband and the situation in prayer…

Hi Sharon,
I ask myself that very thing every day. I will keep you and your hubby in my prayers. Heading to morning Mass soon.

Kathy

Thank you everyone! I feel better this morning–said a long prayer to the Father this morning, and I just know He can move mountains, and He’ll move this one. (it’s a mountain to me)😊

Kathy–you know, though, whenever I start thinking that way, I’m reminded that things could be much worse! I am not ill with a deadly disease, etc…so this too shall pass–but we can always wish, right?🙂

God bless you all!

I ust spoke with the owner of our home…my hubby was supposed to do it, but he said he thinks he likes me more:rolleyes: Anyways–he was very cool–and said that he is going to do a short sale…which means that he wants to give it back to the bank, and he’s going to see what the lowest price the bank would be willing to take, seeing that there exists a mortgage on the property…so we might get a good deal, and not have to move. Wereally love this new home–hopefully, it will work out. I told him I talked to a lawyer, for our own protection, and told him that the lawyer said our lease stands for the duration of the lease…so, if he sells it the new owners need to realize this. He said he understands.

Your prayers in action everyone! Thank you–stay tuned for more…hopefully–the asking price will be low from the bank!!!🙂

Praying that your situation will be resolved to your satisfaction!

My prayers are with you. Having some experience as a landlord in the past and as a law student, I can tell you that the advice you got sounds pretty solid. Again, I am just a student so please do not rely on my information, but a lease is a lease and if he sells the house it should be subject to the lease (ie the new owner would have to let you stay there until the lease is up) or your current landlord would have to give you an opportunity to find a new place and if there was a price difference in rent he would be responsible. Again do not rely on this for I am still just a student and cannot give legal advice … but this is info from a friend with a strong recommendation to get a good attorney involved. Also contact a real estate agent and get their take one what the house would sell for in this market to see if your landlord’s price is reasonable. In the mean time know that my prayers will be with you and your family.

Thank you steve! I got the advice from one of thee best law firms in town…so, you are right on with what he said! I am hoping that the bank comes down in price…so, we can do a short sale…If it is God’s will…thank you very much for your reply.🙂
