I must agree with Annie, here, and with Bobby Jim. All of this sounds like a lot of mis-placed pride that can lead to incredible devisiveness. Wearing one is akin to saying to those who do not wear one, “I am not like you” and taking pride in it–like the pharisee praying in the temple that Bobby referenced, “Thank God I’m not this low-life next to me.”
Ultimately, what’s the point? To say “I’m so Orthodox, and you’re a blasphemous heretic?” What good does that do?
The whole thing is, I think, incredibly uncharitable.
