Since especially my Mom does not want me to expose myself to infection, how am I suppose to do good works for the next year or so.

You can do good works even from your home. Find some time to pray, do something special for people in your family, support or advocate for a specific charity, contact by phone or email a friend or family member that could enjoy some attention (for example people living alone, elderly, sick etc.). These are just examples, you can think of something that fits your own situation

Pray for those affected and people working with them, and for those who have lost their employment

And don’t forget to offer up your suffering through this and your obedience, which pleases God very much!

These are all great ideas people have mentioned. Maybe try taking on some extra chores around the house to help out. Cleaning, cooking, washing dishes, etc. it’s a great opportunity to learn to cook if you don’t already know how, or try out some new recipes if you do. It’s a skill that will always come in handy, and you can cook for your family now, and use the skills at a soup kitchen or church even later.

Be kind w your Mom. Do unselfish tasks to help her. Increase your prayer time. Wear masks when in groups & gloves.
God is w you

Sit down and think about the works of mercy:
  • To feed the hungry.
  • To give water to the thirsty.
  • To clothe the naked.
  • To shelter the homeless.
  • To visit the sick.
  • To visit the imprisoned, or ransom the captive.
  • To bury the dead.
I have some friends who have learned to knit a basic stitch, they order inexpensive cotton and knit washcloths to donate to those who work with the homeless.

Clean out your closet, if you have clothes in good condition that you don’t wear, donate those clothes. Places that help the homeless are always in need of camping supplies, blankets, tarps, you could run a social media campaign to gather these for the programs.

Visit the sick. My husband had critical open heart surgery and was in an ICU room for many weeks. It was over Valentine’s Day. The volunteers came around distributing Valentine’s cards made by various youth groups/CCD/RE students. Those cards brought more joy than I can describe.

Visit the imprisoned. Contact your local Kairos and find out what they need, use social media to help them.

Make knotted rosaries to give away.

Ask your parents if it is okay to contact your parish and get a list of shut-ins/elderly parishioners who would want a phone call.

Bury the dead: Is there a stash of funeral cards in your house? Pray for those people. Read the newspaper and the obits and pray for each of those people and their families.

Weird - I wrote a lo post and it’s gone! Well, I agree with what others have said and I would just add to look into “chemo angels” - an organization where you “adopt” someone going through chemo. You can either send weekly uplifting letters or weekly sweet gifts (you choose which you prefer on your application). I have been a letter writer & felt I was adding a bit of cheer for someone.

Simple answer is prayer, fasting, and almsgiving which we all can do without leaving home.

There are plenty of things that you can do and keep your social distance.

Writing letters to the sick, elderly, imprisoned, soldiers. Pick up trash or clean up common areas in your neighborhood. Find an elderly or disabled person around you and go do yard work for them.

Go to your local/church cemetery and clean gravestones, or pick up debris.

Sew masks, put together necessity bags for the homeless shelter.

The list could go on and on. Just look around you and see what needs to be done.

Before you get out of bed, do a morning offering to God. Offer all of your joys, sorrows and sufferings in union with Christ for the salvation of the world, and to repair for your own sins. Before your feet touch the floor, do the sign of the cross. On your left foot say every time I make a step may my feet proclaim “Jesus I love you”, (make the sign of the cross on it) and then on the right foot say, “Jesus save souls”.

You can google morning offering but I copied one for you…
