How are African people on the continent begin educated on the ABCs; Abstinence, be faithful and character reformation (or does the C mean ‘condoms’ or ‘chastity’ ?)

What about contraception in Africa? What are most Christians there (of all denominations), choosing to do?

Africa is a diverse continent with 53 countries, so it would be a mistake to put them all in a box and assume that everyone is doing the same thing. (I don’t understand why people act like it’s one giant country.) Perhaps you should specify the country or region you are thinking about.

Uganda was the one of the first nations to promote the ABC method, and this decreased their AIDS percentage to 6%, according to this article, which went on to say that after giving in to pressure from the West, Uganda did start distributing condoms, and there was a concurrent rise in AIDS infection rates.

Here is another article, with more of an Evangelical point of view, but which discusses some of the cultural differences between many in Africa and the West.

There are other articles critical of the emphasis on the abstinence aspect out there but most of them seem to be from 2005, when many were highly critical of the influence of President Bush in the US aid package of $100M, of which $8 were to be spent on abstinence education, particularly targeting youth.
