How are Heaven,Purgatory and heck "conditions" that a soul is under?

I kind of have trouble conceptualizing this.I have a bit of a hard time thinking of Heaven,Purgatory and heck as* “states of being”.I guess we can go into a big tangent about the nature of being an entity but here’s the thing I have trouble with.If Heaven, Purgatory and heck are just “states of being” then when does the part about interacting with the spirits of others in the afterlife and interacting with beings like angels and demons fit in if Heaven, Purgatory and heck are not “locations”?.I dont have trouble imagining God doing this because of his omnipresence which would allow him to manifest himself to his fullest to us to in that state but I have trouble imagining angels and demons interacting with the souls of those in the afterlife if it’s “just a state of being”* because I know that even there limited in there own ways.I have a specifically slightly different problem with conceptualizing Purgatory as a* " a state of being".Would it be like someone dies there soul leaves in like a special trance state * becuase of the temporal effects of all their sins (i.e. why there going to Purgatory).There technically ends up in Heaven* but*** because of the temporal effects of sin their soul is still not out of that special trance state * so what’s going on in the “mind of the soul” *(out of lack of a better word) is that there in a dream like state where there waiting patiently and keep on hearing the voices of others hoping the best for them (i.e. the prayers of others to get souls out of Purgatory). Once their out of the *special trance state * they “wake up” and realize their in Heaven.Is it okay if I think of it working that way?.Thank you for your time and happy new year’s.

Hopefully this explanation is not long boring and winded, and hard to understand. if so I apologize

**You kind stated that you do understand how purgatory is a state of being by saying those exact words. Just as happiness is a state of being so happiness is just a taste of the state of heaven. On the other hand just as anger for no reason is a taste of hell where your hatred consumes you. If you have ever felt an intense jealousy or hatred that was not good but selfish then you are entering a state of hell. **

All your energy is consumed with the state you are in.

You have heard the phrase “I feel like I am in heaven”, that person is exclaiming a great pleasure they are experiencing with in themselves.

Lets say an insane person is in a state of insanity so that they are stuck in their head and cant escape that “world they live in” so the same is true for a state of Hell, Heaven and Purgatory. Think of a person in a strait jacket and the state they are in and how they cannot leave that state or reality with out help (or never do) so , or a person who is in a state of love and have their own separate life with a loved one very different then other people’s, this is tasting purgatory, heaven or hell on earth. And the object is “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done” to make God’s kingdom “HEAVEN” to come to earth. Any moment you have experienced a good feeling like joy or happiness or celebration you are experiencing heaven on earth and bring the kingdom of heaven closer to earth by rejoicing in God’s goodness.

**So keep on being inquisitive happy and joyful and you will bring happiness to earth which is the state that is heaven eternal happiness.

Be happy your whole life and you will be living in heave on earth. Just as happieness coems from with inside you so heaven is also in you

You seem to be thinking of location in terms of geography-- time and space. States of being are the best way we can think of “location” in terms of spirituality. The question of “how many angels can fit onto the head of a pin” comes to mind. Certainly, not a clear answer. The theology and interpretation of purgatory, heaven, and hell are particularly elusive when it comes to explaining it in terms of orientation and matter; we simply don’t have a lot of information about the subject to work with.
Further, the position you are describing seems to be more eastern Catholic than western Catholic. I’m doubt the eastern Orthodox have made a well grounded position on this. They tend to think of spiritual nature more poetic and semitic than definitive and legal.
