How are you implementing the New Evangelization?

I didn’t think the initiative was starting until later this year.:confused:
 
Well, this is a convicting question for me especially bc I posted on that thread. But, I think this should be a convicting question for all practicing Catholics.

As for myself, when I joined these forums at the beginning of the year of 2011 I saw that as a way I could regularly contribute in some way to the New Evangelization. And it certainly has been that. The New Evangelization is certainly about evangelizing to people, but it is also in catechesis, and the Pope recently said that Confession is an important part of it as well.

My shortest description of the what the New Evangelization is would be: deepening our Catholic faith and the Catholic faith of others. That could be through any means.

I told this to one of my friends recently: “A priest has a lot of discretion as to whether he wants his parish to have tons of initiatives and groups going on. All he needs are parishoners who are interested”

So, I’ll definitely be discerning on how to participate in the New Evangeliztion in a more real way than just social media. [Evangelism isn’t as well suited to the internet as it is to face to face conversations. You can be much more personable and charitable in real life].
But, it’s probably going to involve participating more in my parish, and praying together with other Catholics, or evangelizing with them in some form.

Oh! and I think it’s a shame that the Evanglization section on CAF is one of the least used sections of the forum!!! I’m going to be putting a serious plug for the Evangelization section in my signature soon 😃

I am implementing the NE by starting up a family parish night(I’m trying) and I’m educating myself from the USCCB’s interpretation of PJP2’s missio redemtoris. Scott Hahn has great views on evangelization found on this website. He also has an educational website salvationhistory.com/ that I’m trying to get my parish to do an online bible study at(should be starting in a few weeks). I’m trying to motivate my fellow parishners by spreading the word about the NE and sharing why it’s important for us to be more like a family. I’m writing essays and summarys aimed at motivating joyless and or lapsed Catholics to re-invigorate their spirituality. I’m constantly trying to talk to my family about bible passages I’ve read. I’m trying to keep the Lord on my mind, on my lips and in my heart. I’m helping(semi successfully) my family find ways to be excited about our Wonderfull position in the kingdom of God. And I’m praying! I’m praying to the holy spirit to come into each and everyone of our parishners and reinvigorate them with joy and newness. And I’m praying to keep myself aligned with Gods will. I’d love to exchange ideas with you or anyone who has any, about how to reform our fellow Catholics who are joyless/lapsed. group ideas, or bible study ideas, catechism ideas, sports ideas, religous book clubs, teen groups, moms groups, knights of Columbus, activities of all natures!! This is OUR time to work for the greater good, like so many church fathers before us! The Holy Catholic church is YOURS! And mine too lol. We need to make it inviting to others. Let’s start a support group on here for ideas!
 
I’m working on re-educating my parish’s Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion so that they better serve our community and assist my priest by bringing Christ to those who can’t come to Church.

I am also trying to reinvigorate the my parish community into something active and dynamic.

Finally, I am trying to improve the liturgical celebration at my Parish by training better altar servers and helping the people who run our music ministry.

All of the things I do are inside the parish but they lay the blocks for others to grow in their faith.
 
I am a catechist, but there are no set plans in place in my parish yet for the “New Evangelization” effort for the Year of Faith which begins next October. My pastor has sought guidance from the bishop, but there was none forthcoming.

The USCCB released its statement on New Evangelization yesterday:
