How bad is it to send Christmas cards out late?

Every year I get hopelessly muddled and the cards, along with a few other things, tend to get lost in the shuffle. And it happened again this year!

Can I send them out anyway? Will people be insulted?

It is Christmas season and cards arriving during this time is really not too bad even if they come after Christmas day.

If you send them in mid-January after Ephiphany then they are late.

But still-late is always better then never.

I’d be happy to get a card whenever!

My family has a lot of disorganized and forgetful people - I get birthday, Christmas, etc cards and gifts months after the fact sometimes. I still appreciate that somebody was thinking of us. Nobody gets insulted by personal mail, do they? I hope not!

(And if you post them the 26th, like as not people will just blame the post office anyway. )

Go ahead and send them! But don’t just sign them, add a note that you wish them a happy new year & blessed Epiphany.

Sign them with something like “Blessed Octave of Christmas” or “Happy 12 Days of Christmas” and it’ll look like you planned it this way

This^^. Our former pastor did this. He used to chew people out fro celebrating Christmas when it was Adven.t
For those people I accidentally forgot, or new friends who sent me one, I send out New Year’s greetings.
But yeah, relax. It’s Christmas until the Baptism.

I wouldn’t be. As long as you don’t say anything about it, people will just assume the post office got backlogged.

Send them out today, and (assuming the post office doesn’t actually get backlogged) they’ll arrive in Monday’s mail, or Tuesday’s if you miss the morning pick-up, and people will be happy to get them.

About the liturgical year, most of the people I am sending cards to are either Protestant or commercial Christmas celebrators, and, around here at least, Christmas starts on Black Friday and ends at 11:59 25 December! The Christmas parades, concerts, parties, etc., all occur before Christmas, and a good number of people literally start taking everything apart on the 26th. So for them, if a card arrives after Christmas, they don’t think of it as arriving in the Christmas season…

I did make sure that one set of cards has the Magi on it and will wish them a happy 12 Days of Christmas

I would go and send them out anyway. Nobody will be insulted. I have a certain relative who sent Christmas presents in February. We were happy to get them.
