I’m a male teenager. Sometimes I’ll see girl with a pretty face, and I’ll look at her face. Not her body, but her face. And then maybe I’ll want to see it again, so I’ll look again. Is this being unchaste. I can understand how staring at someone’s body could lead someone into sin, but what about faces?

My Opinion:
As long as you are not lusting about her face, it is fine. God made women beautiful, and it wold be a slap to God’s face to turn away from a beautiful girl’s face.

I would not think that “looking again” at a girl’s face would be anything but appreciative of God’s beautiful creation unless some other factor made it so.

A few things you might consider if this is bothering you: Does this repeated looking cause any degree of physical arousal? Do these looks cause your mind to move towards God’s mystery, the magnificence of his creation, and contemplation of the the spiritual depth of the girl, or are your thoughts (even when not at all lustful) sometimes more objectifying than that, simply seeing the beauty of the girl’s face as a cause for your viewing pleasure? Is there a girlfriend for whom you should be reserving those second looks out of love and affection for her? Could that looking potentially be a minor cause of scandal for those around you?

In all likelihood, you’re absolutely fine with these looks; they sound like they’re totally chaste and nothing but building up of other people. Just keep one eye on your conscience and don’t worry too much about it. We have bigger sins to fry (=.

God bless.

your normal my friend, once you get to know her you may find that the beauty of her features is replaced by the the warmth of her heart. good lucck.

If what you see is the reflection of the goodness of God’s creation that you view as a gift and not something to be grasped then your looking is ordered in the proper way. If on the other hand it creates in you a desire to have, it is disordered. If disordered, the first step is to guard your eyes. At the same time the heart needs to be purified. If you can get to any of Christopher West’s materials on the Theology of the Body, you may find them very helpful in developing a proper viewpoint on the human body.

I also look at a girls face as a pose to her curves, I find faces to be so much more wonderful then how she is shaped who cares about shape so long as shes nice and you get along…

I’ve also noticed that I only think lustful things when I stray from looking at said girls face so I would guess its the opposite of sinful since it keeps on from sin.

How can I be chaste with my eyes?
Technically: Wear blinders and look at only the next square foot of earth you’re about to step upon - and be prepared to crash into a lot of objects.

Realistically: So what if you see a gal and find her face (or bust, or legs, or heinie, or “insert body part here” attractive. They are supposed to…they are womanly attributes and you are a man.

Take it as an “Oh Wow” and get on with your life… just don’t dwell upon it… that’s when sin occurs.
