How can I be serious?

We hear the parable about the sower and the seed. He goes around dropping the seeds and it falls on differnet types of soil. 4 main types of soil.

I’ve just realised that i’m the rocky soil. Word of God comes, I feel so holy and then few months later, it’s back to old sins like I didn’t know.

I’m shaking now because I feel if I died right now, God will do just the same to me. He’ll just push me aside as unserious.

I’m tired of this foolishness but it seems a deeply engrained habit. How can I be more serious? Don’t want to keep being rocky soil.

We all struggle in different ways. Be assured that the Lord is there for you!

Cultivate your soul with daily prayer and use of the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist.

Pray daily, and increase your prayer life with the help of the Holy Spirit.

Pray whether you feel like it or not.

The Rosary and meditation on the mysteries is so helpful!

In Screwtape, CS Lewis talks about the troughs and the waves. Sometimes one feels totally into something; a couple of weeks later that desire-fueled energy dissipates.

So what one has to do is to make a bit of a schedule *and stick to it like Spuerglue on fingertips! *Doesn’t matter how you feeeeel, do it anyway.

Start small, and add in the necessities over time. So one might first start with morning and evening prayers, then add 10 minutes of Scripture reading. Then add the Rosary, a bit at a time if necessary, and mental prayer, and very short prayers during the course of the day. By then you will probably have found other things to add in or exchange, like you might have different novenas that you pray at different times, or a special set of prayers for Lent.

But whatever you *decide, *or will to do, stick to it through think and thin. That is how to be serious. Just like a football player does different things during the year even when he doesn’t feel the thrill of it.

Greetings in our Lord Jesus Christ.

May be you are serious on being serious. And so, may be simply yielding (and/or submitting) to our God without seriously thinking or thinking to do anything on our own might help better…(Martha, Maria… Maria was just simply sitting and listening to our Lord Jesus) May be… I do not know brother. A prayer for you.

Love never falleth away - 1 Cor. 13:8.

Starting with a sincere prayer (or talk) with our Lord, we can start meditating just on the following verses for days or even weeks. We have to keep this thought in our mind all the time, now and then talking to our God asking Him to enlighten us on these verses. For the love of God, during these days, it is better to stay away from out-of-the-way and/or distracting material things. This will help I strongly believe.
