I have sinned heavily, but I have been an active church member. But lately I have been overshaddowed by my temptations and I sinnedā€”not just ordinary sins-----mortal sins, actually.

How can i go back to His eternal love? How can I enter Heaven??

I need helpā€¦

avail yourself of Christā€™s gift of the sacrament of penance and reconciliation, where your sins are absolved and you are once again restored to the state of grace. until you can get to confession (make an appointment with the priest tomorrow morning if necessary, there are usually no confessions after Wed of Holy Week) make a good act of contrition and resolve to cease the sinful behavior, and pray for grace to keep your intention.

there are three things you need to remember:

  1. GOD LOVES YOU
  2. GOD FORGIVES YOU
  3. THERE IS NO SIN THAT GOD CAN NOT FORGIVE

Now print that out, cut it out, memorize it and go and talk to your parish priest.

The best was of not falling back in to sin is to suround yourself with with Godly men and women who will help and support you. Check out the CFC in you area.

Unconditionally, never forget it.
  1. GOD FORGIVES YOU
God is ready to forgive yes, but only once we are repentant.
  1. THERE IS NO SIN THAT GOD CAN NOT FORGIVE
Actually, this blatantly contradicts scripture.
ā€œAnd everyone who will speak a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him.ā€
Although God could forgive all sins, he has decreed that blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, he will not forgive.

In Christ.

There are 5 steps that you should carry out in order to get back into a state of grace - in this order -
  1. Make an examination of conscience. This means to think about the things you have done, work out what you have done wrong.
  2. Have sorrow for your sins. This can be imperfect contrition (you are sorry because sin itself is such a bad thing or because of fear of hell or something similar), or perfect contrition (you are sorry because your sins offend God who is good and loving). They say perfect contrition is better but either will do as long as you are sorry for your sins.
  3. Make a firm resolve to never again offend God in that way (the ways you have sinned - plan to never do them again).
  4. Confess your sins to the priest (in the sacrament of Reconciliation)
  5. Carry out the penance the priest gives you.
Then you will be forgiven and you can turn over a new leaf (-:

Andre, please cite the reference for that quotation. While Iā€™m certain itā€™s there, I wonder if it came before Pentecostā€¦

According to St. Faustina and many others, **all **sin is forgivableā€¦it always depends upon the repentance of the sinner, of course, but remember Jesus said, ā€œWhose sins you forgive shall be forgiven, whose sins you retain will be retainedā€ā€¦now He definitely gave the power to determine what is forgivable or not from that point forward to the bishops (apostles) of His Church.

Do you know of any magesterium documents which outlines if there are any sins the bishops are not allowed to forgive? I know in some diocese bishops cannot absolve the sin of abortion, they have to write a letter to the Pope so that the Pope can determine whether or not that personā€™s sin can be absolved. Most diocese in the U.S., however, have been granted the power by the Pope already to absolve the sin with certain guidelines and stipulations.

CCC 1864 ā€œTherefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.ā€ There are no limits to the mercy of God, but anyone who deliberately refuses to accept his mercy by repenting, rejects the forgiveness of his sins and the salvation offered by the Holy Spirit. Such hardness of heart can lead to final impenitence and eternal loss.

Also, if you speak to the priest today and get your absolution immediately avail yourself of Divine Mercy Sunday and the Novena which will begin on Good Friday. You can learn about it here because you can earn a plenary indulgence on Divine Mercy Sunday.

Plenary indulgences remove **all **temporal effects of your absolved soul - restoring it to the condition it was at immediately after your baptism. Itā€™s an absolutely clean slate!

You have a few days to really read up on this devotion and to prepare yourself for it. Ask your priest who, at your parish, will be leading the novena (if your parish is hosting one) and get his/her phone number. Call that person to ask him/her for her help in this matter. They are there to share the good news and would love to help you!

Go to Confession and confess as many of your sins as you can remember, dont hold any back on purpose or the confession will not be valid. Try to go to confession once per month. Go to Mass every Sunday, and on all Holy Days. Keep the Commandments, Pray, say the rosary and things will turn out great for you.

Peace

Actually, Jesus said this about 1860 years earlier. šŸ˜ƒ

It simply means that those who blatantly reject accepting the Holy Spirit to the point of death will not be forgiven.

The fact that you are concerned about your sins and your need for forgiveness and healing demonstrates that you have NOT committed this unforgivable sin.

So go forth, repent, confess, and relax! šŸ‘
Oh yeah, and do try to stop doing this stuff.

Right, this is an unrepentant person, certainly not the OP.
I guess thatā€™s what is meant by blasphemyā€¦that the person who blasphemes obviously is unrepentant at the time.

But if that blasphemous person at some point in their live sees the error of their ways and repents, goes to confession, they can receive absolution.

I agree. Up to the point of death everyone has the chance to repent.
The only reason I quoted the CCC 1864 was that one poster mentioned it.

Forgive me for being curious about your question. I too live in the Philippines. It is 85% Catholic country. You are a Catholic in a Catholic family and you mentioned you have been an active Church member.
Why is it then that you would not know what you have to do when you commit a mortal sin?

As St Faustina heard, one beat of a repentant heart toward God is enought to unleash his DIVINE MERCY which nothing can withstand.

Many of us Protestants say that the Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit cannot be forgiven, because it is a personā€™s absolutely final decision to reject the Salvation of Christ, which is the rejection of the invitation given by the Holy Spirit.
How does this jive with Catholic teaching?
Thank you

Sorry everyoneā€¦I guess I should have read the whole string, because it looks like my question was answered earlier. On this, I think we are in harmony.

Iā€™ve been there, and unfortunately, done that. The first thing you need to realize is that you are not alone in this experience. Many countless souls seek reconciliation every day and in the Sacrament of Reconciliation, Christ gives it freely! God will never ever be angry with you no matter what you have done. He is a loving father and His choice of emotions are different than what our choice of emotions might be because He is Wisdom and Patientence and knows what we need before we ask it. I will pray for you. Remember this: God has given you an arsenal of weapons against Satan in your life: the Rosary, the Blessed Mother, your family, your patron saints, other saints you choose to ask help from, your Guardian Angel (name yours and talk to it!), your Priest, Holy Water, His Word, and most of allā€¦ Himself in prayer. Use these weapons against the devil who is very sneeky when he wants to be!!

Left to ourselves, we can be as humanly virtuous as you like; but without Christ, and His Grace and His Blood, it will mean, and be worth, absolutely nothing.

Salvation is to be had through Christ, and through Christ Alone - apart from Him, our best endeavours are without any value for salvation at all. They become valuable only if they come from His Grace, and from that alone. Even that which we do outside Christ is possible only because He sustains us and enables us to do it - but what we do that does not flow from the life of His Grace in us, has no value for salvation at all. ##
