How can I explain a tenebrae service to sixth graders?

I am a CCD teacher in my parish and am blessed enough to be able to take my sixth grade class to a tenebrae service during Holy Week. Unfortunately, most of my students have never heard of it, much less been to a service, and I want to explain the historical significance of it to them in a way that will interest them. Any help would be much appreciated!
 
You can find an explanation of a tenebrae service at the link provided here. To make this fun for the kids, you might remind them that in J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series Hagrid’s favorite thestral was named Tenebrus.
