My 3 children have left the Church many years ago. My oldest son, now in his 40’s says he still believes most of what the Church says, but his church is sports on TV and other secular persuits. He has a 13 year old son who, when he stays with us on the weekend goes to Mass, but on other weekends, he just stays home. My son has never been married. When I invite him to church, he always has better things to do.
My 2nd daughter is married to a divorced man. She refers to herself as a “recovering Catholic.” All she can think about is her earthly pleasures. She has 2 little boys that she had through invetro fertilization and talks up that procedure.
My 3rd daughter is married to a Protestant. She was going to Mass for a few years but he converted her to a Bible church. She lives across the country from us, but they will be vacationing with us in June.
I pray for each of my kids several times each day and have been doing so for many years, but no one seems to be changing attitude about the Church. I think of St Monica and all of the praying she did, but I’m afraid my prayers are not being heard.
