Dear Brothers and Sisters,
This Sunday we celebrate the Feast of Pentecost, and we know that Mary and the first disciples of Jesus were gathered in the upper Room – praying and awaiting the promised Holy Spirit. What a picture for us!

Jesus from His Cross told John and us : “Behold your Mother” . Jesus Who is for us the Way, the Truth and the Life, directs us to Mary in order that we may see how to become perfect as our Heavenly Father is Perfect; Merciful as our Heavenly Father is Perfect. Mary fulfilled the Will of the Father and lived the words Her Son preached on this earth. Mary continues to do, as He continues to teach us all:
John obeyed Jesus and took Mary into his home and into his Life - so must we. I would encourage, all but especially Parents, Grandparents and Godparents to help children in the confusing culture of our time, to see Mary not only as the Mother of Jesus, but as their own spiritual Mother too. We are called to be like Mary true children of our heavenly Father! Help them (and others) to see Mary as the Mother Jesus gave to us to pray for us now and at the hour of our death – the Mother to be our human Model and one who perfectly followed Jesus.
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your Faithful; kindle in us the Fire of Your Love.
Mary, Mother of the Church, pray for us.

Pope Francis decreed on Feb. 11 Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, that the Universal Church will celebrate the Feast of Mary Mother of the Church on this Monday, May 21 and every year afterwards this Feast of Mary will be celebrated the Monday after Pentecost. This is important! The Pope is pointing to Mary as the Vicar of Christ and he is repeating what Jesus told John: “Behold your Mother”.
