How could I be denied confession?

I am in a state of mortal sin and went to the priest so he could hear my confession. But because he normally only hears confessions on Saturday (today is Thursday), he denied me. How could he do this and leave me in a state of mortal sin?!
 
I’m sorry that the priest chose to turn you away. I suspect he might have had frustrating experiences with hyper-scrupulous people mistakenly believing themselves in a state of mortal sin and demanding confession at inappropriate times. Even so, he very likely could have been more tactful to you. In any case, try not to worry about it. You tried to go to confession and the fact that you were turned away was not your fault. Just go again for confession at the next scheduled opportunity.
