Perhaps I should rephrase my question .

Jesus did not have original sin.

Death is a consequence of original sin.

So how did jesus die?

Please read through the Nicene Creed… It affirms our faith and speaks of how and why Jesus died… But the good news is, He is no longer dead…

We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made, one in Being with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven:
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered, died, and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in fulfillment of the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son.
With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

He gave up is life so that we may live…

Jesus, Who did not know sin (personally), through Divine Will and because of Divine Love became sin (took on Himself every sin ever committed in the world - past, present and future) and so freely gave up His life (offered up His life to the Father) in order to make atonement for our sin, so that by His death, we would be able to know eternal life.
  • Human beings sinned.
  • Sin is an offense against God.
  • Sin must be atoned for.
  • Human beings should atone for their sin.
  • However, only a god can atone to a god.
  • Therefore, human beings cannot atone for their sin.
  • Ergo, atonement must be made by a human being who is also God.
  • There was no human being who was also God.
  • So, human beings would never be saved from final damnation.
  • But, God is Love.
  • God loves human beings.
  • God wants human beings to have eternal life because of Love.
  • Human beings will never know eternal life without an atonement for their sins.
  • SO, God decides to be their atonement…
  • BUT, He needs to be human to do so…
  • THEREFORE, Jesus decided to become human…
  • AND so was born to die…
  • THAT WE MAY LIVE.

Jesus was fully man and it is appointed to man once to die and then face the judgment. The difference between Jesus and all other men is that when He faced judgment He was acquitted. Having been acquitted and since the penalty of sin is death, therefore Jesus could not remain dead.

You see, it is of course miraculous that One could be dead and live, but really when you think about the justice of God, it really makes sense that a man who knew no sin, though He could die, could not remain dead.

Not having original sin is the result of of His being conceived of the Holy Spirit. Only those conceived in Adam have original sin, although there is much disagreement about what that means, so only those conceived of Adam are subject to Adam’s punishment.

Given that Jesus was not conceived of Adam, though His flesh could die, He could not remain dead not having been under the penalty of God’s judgment on Adam.

I believe Jesus died of a broken Heart. I think Jesus died because His Heart finnally gave out.

Yes, that’s right. He took upon himself the sins of humanity.

Jesus didn’t really truly die. He was ressurected, and is possibly still walking the earth today.

The Catholic church teaches he is in heaven, no on earth.

Christ ascended Body and Soul into Heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father. (De fide.) **

This is not the Apostolic Teaching. The Apostles taught that Jesus is seated at the right hand of God, and will remain there until all is put under His feet. And from thence He will come in glory, to judge the living and the dead at the end of the age.

He is seen on earth in his angels and saints, and in the eyes of the poor and suffering.

Very simply - He died because He chose to out of love (as true man He could die and yet as true God, if He chose not to, would not)

‘Therefore doth the Father love me: because I lay down my life, that I may take it up again. No man taketh it away from me: but I lay it down of myself, and I have power to lay it down: and I have power to take it up again.’ (John 10:17-18)
