There are threads on CAF that ask this question with respect to believers in a personal G-d. That is, if G-d is Himself perfect, why did He create the Universe? Usually the answers involve ideas such as G-d’s manifestation of His perfection through His eternal love. My question, however, is the reverse. If one does believe in a G-d who created the Universe and one also believes Him to be an impersonal G-d who has no involvement in His creation, then what might be His reason for creating the Universe? I think some deists hold this belief and perhaps some Buddhists as well. All, including believers and non-believers, are welcome to reply.
